Would You Buy A Console For One Game?

Title.

I'm badly torn at present. Really want to pick up a game and unfortunately there is no PC port of if and probably never will be.

That said...ps3s are still not what I would call cheap :|.

No.

By all rights, there shouldn't ever be a console where you can't find at least ONE other game that you want to play (if you can't, you are not looking hard enough) but I would never buy a console for one game unless I could get it stupid cheap (like...$100 or less with the game I want).

Every console I have ever bought has been at least a few years into its life cycle. I won't be the ass that calls early adopters idiots (it's your money; do what you want with it) but I really don't understand why you would want to buy a PS4/Xbox One right now when waiting gives you so many benefits.

The closest I've gotten was Valkyria Chronicles. It was easily one of the best RPGs this generation had but unfortunately, the sequel was a PSP-only game. I haven't caved (yet) but I expect that I will get it eventually...

No one would --- and PC porting has gotten a lot better than it used to be.

I could see back in the day if you had money like that to pee away... but generally speaking, getting anything of that type of media over one thing is a waste of money.

No, I was really tempted when Infamous: Second Son as I really want to play that game. But it will still be out when I finally buy a PS4 so, no.

Having said that, Uncharted 4 will probably be the game that convinces me to get one but there will be other games out that I want to play by then. Hopefully.

Nope..this is the sole reason I stay on PC..they will eventually come to PC sooner or later (if they aren't Sony/MS owned IP's). That makes it even fewer exclusives that I can live without.

I am so flooded with games via Steam sales and what not that I never have a dull moment.

I've bought a PSP only for Birth By Sleep, but as I am a slightly hardcore fan of the Kingdom Hearts series, this was to be expected. I've done the same thing for the 3DS, but I am finding many games that I enjoy on it, so I am getting my moneys worth.

I'd probably buy a smaller hand-held like a 3DS or PSP if it had something I really wanted to play. I feel like that'd also be an investment in a new time-waster machine that was different enough from my current time-waster machines that it'd justify itself eventually. The pricier 'new gen' consoles? No way. At least, nothing's out now that makes me feel the least bit tempted to get one.

I bought a PS Vita so I could play Persona 4 Golden, essentially paying 300 dollars for that game.
It was well worth it, as upon buying it I found there are a lot of games for the Vita that are really solid.

I bought a Gamecube for Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, and it was mildly disappointing, but I ended up checking out a few games on Gamecube that were pretty fun, but for the most part, I would say yes, as long as you keep an open mind on what games you will want later.

I bought the Xbox for Halo
I bought a Gamecube for Super Smash Brothers Melee
I bought a 360 for Halo: ODST
I spent £1100 on a new PC for Battlefield 2
I bought a DSlite for the Colors homebrew program.

So yes, I have bought consoles in the past on the strength of one game, if the game's good enough, it's worth while to me.

Of course, more than just one good game never hurts.

I bought an RROD 360 off a friend for 15 bucks, I then repaired it with an online kit.
All for Dead Rising, I'm still annoyed Capcom never ported it, the sequels arent even close to being as good IMO.

No, why would it make sense to spend hundreds of dollars for the ability to play 1 game.
If you have a line up of more than 5 games that you're planning to buy then sure...but other than that? No way...just doesn't make sense to me.
