Enough with the reboots! Can't we invent any new things nowadays? So many movies are reboots already, would hate for it to start becoming as common for games.

*The original was great, Kotor2 was not as good (suffered from far inferior/vastly more annoying characters), and kotor 3 (aka TOR) was pretty much an unmitigated disaster. If it looked like the game was going to be based on the first title, I'd be all for it - that one had the best characters, the best dialog, and by far the best story/twist.
Okay, I know everyone is entitled to their opinions and whatnot, but with the exception of how a bunch of content ended up getting scrapped the writing in KotOR II is just straight up better than the first game. I'll grant that the twist in KotOR is better, if only because it's slightly less signposted than what they did in the sequel, but the writing in KotOR is to KotOR II as Harry Potter is to The Once and Future King.

You may not like the characters as much, but they still interact with the plot and MC in a far more organic and in-depth manner than in the first game. It's also the only game (and basically the only piece of media I've seen at all) in the entire Star Wars franchise that doesn't treat the Force like a black-and-white good-or-evil switch, but actually portrays all of the grey areas that would be present in such a full-featured slider as the ones in Bioware games. The characters in KotOR II have far more interesting things to say about events preceding the games and the nature of the Force and its impact on the Star Wars universe than any of the characters from the first game.

What KotOR II suffered from was the fact that LucasArts pushed Obsidian into shoving it out the door, so they had to rip out content that wasn't finished and couldn't properly bugfix it.

OT: I'd say yes, but it would be handled by EA again and I don't see them doing great things with it. Even with a second chance, I'm sure they would find some way to screw it all up.

part of me wants to say yes to the point that I'd consider sacrifices at the alter, but the other half knows it would be screwed up or the rpg elements would be removed from it and it'd be michael bay: the force edition.

so as long as it's an HD remake of kotor 1 and 2, I'd dig it.

I'd highly welcome any space opera in the style of Bioware of 10 years ago. Something like KOTOR/ ME1/DA:O set in space. Sorted. Just not an action game, other people are already making those.

A reboot/remake of KotOR? Meh, maybe after a price drop or a sale. Not exactly going to run out and grab that.

Now, if they made KotOR3, which continued the story of the Jedi Exile and Revan in the Unknown Territories I would be interested.

A reboot wouldn't be a bad idea. KOTOR 3 would a good idea.

However,

[HEADING=3]Republic Commando 2 would be a greater idea.[/HEADING]

no. Anyone with a a PC can still play the old one if they get the itch and shinier graphics wouldnt help the game which is based around strong character writing.
I am also strongly against commercial hd resking remakes whatever as new games should be just that - new games.

Maybe? I'd rather just see an update to KOTOR. Graphics, maybe a new weapon or something? Also fix the endless crashing bugs

Heh, no.

EA being what is is, and BioEAre being who they currently are? Nope. I don't want that at all, regardless of Revan or non-Revan.

Concept wise I wouldn't mind another Old Republic setting. But I don't know how loose Disney is with the leash anymore. Avellone stated in an interview that when they were working on KOTOR II they barely had any problems with Lucas Arts regarding the content of the game, and what they wanted their vision to be. Basically only having one or two things they had to change, and they were very minor. Like names of an alien. Aside from rushing the project, Lucas Arts was very hands off. I can't trust Disney to be the same.

Under the right circumstances I could go for this although I would prefer a current-gen remake:

- Basically KOTOR as was but with updated graphics, and an influence system and a few extra options for the party. A run down for each character at the end would be fun too.

- KOTOR 2, again with updated graphics, with the bugs worked out and cut content from later in the game put back in.

All laying the groundwork for a glorious 3rd instalment that will answer all the questions and tie up all the loose ends. Then the trilogy can be accepted into the Star Wars Canon and we can treat it as the *real* prequel trilogy.

Never mind. If we do a reboot, I want that exact title

I would like Obsidian to make KOTOR3 with their brilliant writing and a more action based lightsaber/shooting combat system.

Keep Bioware away from it.

Yes, I want it. Oh yes, oh yes, OH YES I'D BUY THAT!!!

I know I'd be put off by EA wrecking everything, but I'd be one of those suckers who'd still end up paying for the damn thing anyway. I loved KOTOR, I think I loved KOTOR2 more (except that it crashed all the damn time), but I didn't play TOR, MMOs aren't really my thing.

The great thing about KOTOR is it told a completely different story, with next to no ties to the main Star Wars canon. There was a whole Galaxy out there to explore, so many stories to be told and we've only heard two of them. I would like to see a KOTOR3, though I'd probably like to see the characters be a little more dynamic. You know, how in Mass Effect your people can hurdle stuff and feels like they're interacting with the environment more, and in DA:I you can jump around and stuff. I'd like a bit more freedom to do that, especially in Star Wars with jetpacks/jumppacks and stuff. I'm not asking for a platformer, but with force jumps or gadgets there's a lot that could be done.

But you know, I'd really be there for the characters and storytelling. And game breaking bugs.

That's every Obsidian game. Everything they make is gold, but riddled with bugs and cut content.

If there was to be a Kotor 3, it would need to be Obsidian and not Bioware. And instead of a jedi rpg, how about an Alpha Protocol-style game about being a smuggler? I can't think of any stealth games in the Star Wars setting.

Pillars of Eternity is Obsidian's crowning achievement, a game made without publisher interference, released on their own timescale and it is not riddled with bugs or cut content.

I dunno. KOTOR was the one Bioware game I actually finished, and the one that got me sort of interested in the Star Wars franchise, so there's some nostalgic value in the reboot for me, but the Origin and the mandatory mediocre localization have put me off their games before. Plus, they will be sure to put some crazy HDD-devouring DRM scheme, so no, I think I'll pass.

Fair enough, I've never liked isometric rpgs so I gave that one a pass. Whenever I find an isometric rpg where I like the gameplay, it doesn't signpost where I need to go (My last attempt at Fallout 1 ended at the Hub. Got the water caravans headed towards the vault, now I just need to ????), and whenever I find an iso-rpg with good signposting, the gameplay is the part I don't like. I've tried a lot of them, the genre's not for me.

And I'm not saying the trademark Obsidian bugginess is that bad, I miss unpatched Fallout: New Vegas. A lot of weird, memorable stuff happened because of bugs in that game. In my first playthrough, during ghost town gunfight, a deathclaw rolled into Goodsprings and killed mostly everyone. Fun, unpredictable stuff like that doesn't happen post-patches.

The only bugs that actually bother me in games are the ones that get you stuck and ruin your save, which I can't say I've ever had happen in an Obsidian game.

Star Wars: Lethal Alliance on PSP. Stealth game where you play as a smuggler.
