I had a thought the other day after seeing several homeless people hanging around lightposts and gas stations.

I come up to one of them with two bags in my hand and say the following:

"Greetings sir/madam i have noticed your predicament and i am willing to offer help. I hold here in my right hand a Burger King bag. In this bag is one freshly made whopper sandwich complete with medium fry and drink. In my left hand is a plain brown paper bag. In this bag is a 40oz bottle of Budweiser and two cigarettes. Choose wisely."

Now depending on the persons choice i would say these:

The BK bag: "Congratulations you have chosen wisely. You now receive this meal and 5 dollars"

The Plain Brown Bag: "I'm sorry you have not chosen wisely. Therefore i leave you"

What do you think? Is this wrong? Is it mean? Share your opinions and discuss below.

What if they're genuinely not hungry at that point?

Homeless people do eat and it's not like they're still hungry just after a meal just because they're homeless.

It's a simple waste of money, but really why would you care if it's mean in this situation?

That's quite an unusual way to spend your time.

Is there any particular reason why you felt like being weird to randoms? I think the justification for this would make a difference.

Well you're scrutinizing a choice by usiing a predetermined answer and not giving them the freedom to choose based on their situation. What if the person wasn't hungry but was thirsty, the beer would seem the choice anyone would make over a hamburger if they were thirsty. What if they were a chain smoker and genuiely thought the cigarette was more important at themt time. You can't have a predetermined answer for someone else's choice.

It takes Hobo Roulette (a phrase I coined) to a new level!

Yes it is, but only a little. You might get hurt in the process.

They will get hungry again later. So the bag with food + drink is obviously a smarter choice than just drink + cancer sticks.

True, but it's still their decision to make and besides the need at hand is the more important need to fulfill.

It actually says a lot about yourself.

Manly, that you deserve to be homeless yourself, you are a mean spirited individual, and I will laugh heartily when you do this to the wrong homeless man and get a whiskey bottle over top your head.

Honestly, if you have to ask whether this is mean or not, I have to question whether you're either an idiot, moral bankrupt, or your mother did a miserable job raising you.

1.)While reading your quote, I couldn't help but imagine someone dressed like the Monopoly man saying such a thing to anybody.
2.)I understand what you were trying to do but given the 2 choices you should have just given him/her your Burger King without tempting him/her with booze and smokes. If my memory serves me, homeless people tend to like alcohol and cigarettes.
3.)You should have either not approached him/her or just given him/her some money.

QFT.

If you're willing to buy food for a homeless man, just do it. Don't make him jump through hoops and play bullshit mind games for it. Seriously, why would you even consider that?

What kind of area do you live in where you can just approach a homeless person? The homeless in my city are freaking insane and one of them got in my face as I was getting off a bus yelling that I "don't f$%&ing live here".

Also, you are a horrible person and I agree with everyone above me who said the same thing. You want to help the homeless? Just buy them the food or volunteer at a soup kitchen or something.
