Would you consider using any guide as cheating?

No, not really. Probably because I'm playing Radiant Historia right now, and getting the good ending in that game without a strategy guide in one hand is just fracking impossible.

It would be easy for those where the question is "Do you want a bad ending? {Yes/No] but finishing some of the quests are counter-intuitive.

Which one are you stuck on? I remember there was one with the party member who wore blue which was hard.

OT: They're there for a reason. Using them is like deciding whether you want to play in hard mode or easy mode. It's a choice. Getting stuck at a part of the game for hours ruins the experience as much as spoiling yourself on a guide.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm taking my own advice and playing with my computer open to a Game FAQs guide. I'm just saying that it would be impossible to spot half of these quests without it.

I dunno if you could beat brutal with mass queens, but I'm pretty sure it is possible to beat brutal with all sorts of builds if your execution is good. And if your execution isn't good, M&M won't help you.

Which is why marines and medics work so well. Plop down two barracks and mash the A and E keys, build supply depots when maxed, and attack move. Very little execution required.

For Heart of the Swarm you can use whatever. Kerrigan can beat every mission herself. When Kerrigan's out, Roach/Hydra is a similar combo that the AI can't deal with.

Not really, no. But even if it was, when it comes to a single player game the only person's enjoyment you're potentially ruining is your own so you have to ask yourself "Do I care?"

"Am I not entitled to the content I purchased?" I say that to people mocking easy difficulties as well. I'm stuck in a puzzle, encounter, boss, missing the plot item that was to the left path when the story told me to go right... B.S. like that. So, no. Not cheating in the slightest as long it doesn't interfere with another person playing the game. Which should not be a problem as most "here's the solution" guides are for single player games.

Nope... unless said guide decides to grow limbs and/or begins to do the task for you...

Other than that, it's there to, more or less, prepare you for your task at hand...

I used to use guides all the time myself. And not just to help me through a game. I like to just read them in my spare time.

Now a days, I only use them if I'm really stuck on something and can't figure out the solution. Or if I'm playing something like Dark Souls or the SMT series and need some general tips in order to play well.

AFAICT you're playing it single player? You may deprive yourself of a worthwhile experience, or you may get extra enjoyment, but no such thing as cheating...

That statement of yours says it all - what you're doing isn't what I'd call cheating. That's like watching videos of how to beat bosses in Dark Souls. You can watch all you want, but nothing can prepare you for your own battle, which won't be at all like what you saw due to randomization. It's your actions and your skill that sees you through in the end. You're not guaranteed to win no matter how much you know in advance.

Double this opinion if you're watching videos after bashing your head against the wall in frustration.

Totally in favor of that one. After some time with some bosses I was simply "fuck this, show me how it's done" which wasn't necessarily a win in the near future after seeing it done by someone else

Back then I tried Final Fantasy 8 without a guide and oh boy....that was very tedious at some points...

Having recently gone through Chrono Trigger, I occasionally consulted the wiki, but only to make sure I wasn't missing any side quests, and to see exactly how to get the special chests to work at their fullest.

Essentially, it's not cheating at all. If you find using a guide improves the experience, then go for it. This holds especially if you're stuck and you can't fathom how. A guide getting you out of a shit situation is A-OK in my book.
