Barring old people, honestly, yeah, I would have literally no real problem laying my life down for a stranger. I don't view my life as particularly important.

If it was just *risking* my life, then I'd do it in a heartbeat, for anyone. If it's a guaranteed thing to give my life, then I would for a great many people, almost-definitely.

It depends on the situation. If their life is in danger and they are an innocent person, then I may very well give my life. It's not like I'll live forever and I don't think I'd care so much if my life was cut short. Of course, it would also depend on the manner of death...

Yes. Not without hesitation, I'm sure, as there are people who love me and need me. But of course. Why is my life any more important than someone else's? It isn't. And that other life is no more worthy of sacrifice if it belongs to a brilliant doctor or the guy who cleans up the vomit after the crowd leaves the stadium. And though it would effect my loved ones, what does it mean for me to die before my time, as it were? Nothing. Not even a blink of an eye in the untold billions of years since the universe came into existence and who knows how long before it ends. But my choice matters, to me, if to no one else. (Though of course, it matters to one person very much in this situation.)

If John 15:13 doesn't do it for you, try on the Babylon 5 quote based on it:

No greater love hath a man than he lay down his life for his brother. Not for millions, not for glory, not for fame, for one person...in the dark where no one will know or see.

Oh look, another thread for people to show that they're all "edgy" and "cool" and that they're only out for themselves and everyone else can go fuck themselves.
Thanks, OP.

Not a chance, no matter who it was.

In order to save others, you must first save yourself.

Hah, no.. There's just one person I'd give my life for. On most occassions I'd try saving a stranger, but not if it meant certain death for me.

I am not scared of death. We've all got to die somehow, sometime at someplace. So I might as well at least have a honorable death to call my own.

It depends on the randomer- whether I thought their life was as valuable as mine, and my death would serve some purpose.

I'm not giving my life for a tramp and a can of baked beans. I would consider giving my life for a scientist and a cure for cancer.

Yes. Call it a martyr complex, but I think that would be a great way to die. We're all going to die eventually, and very few of us will get to choose the circumstances. The opportunity to go out heroically is something that few people get presented with. I would like that to be the closing chapter of my life.

Shame my reasons are rather selfish though. I would LIKE to do it with nothing but altruistic reasons in my heart, but I guess I'm not quite noble enough for that :/
