Dammit...I've been thinking about saying something along those lines in this thread for days and now you go and do it instead, serves me right for being indecisive. You forgot blood, that's vital, although more plentiful and people need skin grafts...um...intestines? Can you transplant those? Lose enough of your bowel and you die. Stomach is pretty vital...I'm just guessing now in a bid to seem clever because you got there first.
Hehe aye, as I said, wikipedia lists more but I don't know how many are truly viable or life saving... as for blood transfusions, wikipedia lists them as live donor only so don't know if it'd work with all the other stuff (you can't do a heart transplant, which are the most needed ones, unless the person's dead or imminently dying).

Well, you could just run into the hospital and slit you wrists and tell them to get a bucket quick to stop it going to waste. Removing the heart would make them dead wouldn't it?

Different ways of dying damage different organs and blood needs to be drawn out very carefully to prevent contamination otherwise it's useless. But it's not the point of the thread anyway and the point still stands either way so :p

I don't even know those 10 other people! They'll probably die anyway without me ever knowing them! How useless saving them would be. I'd save my friend.

Why didn't you choose a big moral thing like millions or perhaps billions of people? 10 people is a negligible drop in the statistics.

Only 10 people? I'm disappointed with how easy this moral question is to answer for me. I'd let those 10 die, for sure. Call me callous, but those 10 people are a statistic, but my best friend is much more than that. Yeah, I'm likely feel awful for letting those 10 people die, but I'll feel better than if I killed my best friend.

I'd prefer my own life to my friend's for 10. So if I could instead kill myself for my friend and theirs, I'd do that.

Alright then, you could drain it out and freeze it on the spot while you are still alive. HA! NYAAH NYAAH NYAAH!

I'd rather let ten strangers die than betray my friend. When I consider someone close, they mean a lot to me, and I'd let people I don't know die to protect them.

No. Ten dead random people I don't know or care about versus one that I do know and care about? The person I know wins hands down every time. To hell with random strangers!

I'd let the 10 people die, no question. Why? To quote Erich Maria Remarque: "The death of one is a tragedy, the death of a million is just a statistic."
I think you are quoting the wrong person there.
Nope, despite being mistakenly attributed to Stalin by many people, that quote is actually originally from The Black Obelisk [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Obelisk], a book by Erich Maria Remarque.

I would feel awful if I had to kill my best friend, but if it would save the lives of ten other people, save the misery of ten other families and the misery of ten other best friends, then I like to think I'd be able to do it for those other people.

Whether or not I would be strong enough to do so is a different question, one I don't know the answer to.

10 people? My best friend? No.

I simply see no reason to save a bunch of tossers, and kill my best friend. I'd much rather let them die. And laugh at it.

No, the 10 others i don't know, thus their deaths will have no personal impact on me whatsoever. I look out for all that i am concerned with on a personal level, the rest of the world can burn for all i care

Agreed, i think of it this way..seeing as where i live most if not all "people" here are generally closed minded, horrible drivers...then no i wouldn't save 10 people to kill my best friend. matter of fact i would give my own life to protect my friend.

Zeb and I had this discussion. He told me that if I ever chose his life over anyone else's, he'd kick my ass. Yeah, he's that sort of person.

'pologies.
