Hello all, so finishing college is great, finishing it on crutches not so much. Finding out you need pins and screws because the damage to your ankle so my summer is pretty much stuck at home. I'm a PC gamer at heart, and I'm wondering you glorious people of the Escapist what you would recommend I play. I'm flexible in the genre and more or less I'll be looking into anything you guys send my way.

Recent games I've already played.
AC:R
ME3
DX:HR
Fallout NV
Rage
Saints Row 3
and because I was impulsive and tired of the Modern Warfare series Battlefield 3.

Skyrim.

Diablo 3 is about to come out. The Diablo series is pretty much "How To Waste Time".. nice thing is you'll actually be able to make money off it somewhat with their Real Money Auction House.

Skyrim.

The F2P Tribes Ascend game just got properly released, freaking awesome and a very different kind of combat from most modern shooters.

Skyrim.

Path of Exile is a F2P Diablo style game, always online, it's currently in beta and is pretty awesome, you can get beta access for $10.

Skyrim.

If you like creating stuff, both Minecraft and Terraria are fantastic. Terraria is more of a explore/combat game than purely building stuff.

Skyrim.

Keep an eye on Steam and their daily specials, mid week specials and weekend specials. They can suddenly give you some great games.

Skyrim.

Team Fortress 2 is F2P and still good for some laughs.

Last, but by no means least, I should probably mention Skryim. I put 300 + hours into that thing and I barely scratched the surface.

Overlord games. Camera and controlls can get a bit wonky at times, but there's nothing quite like bringing your evil heel down on the good guys with the help of your minions. I enjoyed the humor very much. The emo/hippy elves are just classic.

Civilization V. It's like crack. I'll admit, I haven't played any of the previous ones, and while V is somewhat polarizing when it comes to fans of the series, I found it to be really fun. Watch out for Gandhi however. Don't let him get nukes or everyone is screwed.

And I'm not sure anyone mentioned it, but there's also Skyrim...

I will second Skyrim and Civ 5. I have played every game in the Civ series and think 5 is a great addition.

Legends of Grimrock - Just started yesterday but love it so far

Mount and Blade Warband - Cheap game, great for simulating hand to hand Knights in shining armor combat. Graphics and physics are out dated but still a ton of fun and there is a large community that is still creating great mods

Also check out GOG.com if you have an urge to play some older classics like Thief or Baldurs Gate.

Well since you mind controlled me with your topic, I guess I have to give an answer. You seem to kind of stick towards one genre, but if you want to branch out, Sins of a Solar Empire is an amazing RTS. They are just about to release a huge expansion in a couple of months. Star Wars: The Old Republic is a pretty good MMO. Also, already mentioned, but Tribes: Ascend is a very fun game, and puts a unique spin on shooters.

Haha Father time I have, I got in cheaply. But I went with current ones of the last few months. So far a good list, I'm glad I haven't been getting the cliche answers well aside from Skyrim[which trust me given the time I'll be out might actually not be enough]

Dawn of War is good, and the Dark Crusade expansion is a great way to suddenly lose days when you could have sworn you were only there for a few minutes.

As said above check out GoG.com for all the fancy schmansy old games. They've got a lot of awesome on there.

If you're into RTS games then I highly suggest Supreme Commander and the expansion Forged Alliance (forgot about the sequel).

Bastion. It's $15 on Steam (which I think is the only place you can get it). Sure it's a 360 port but it's a damn good one and plays great with mouse and keyboard.
You will never regret a thing about buying and playing this game. I'm serious.

Other than that I'd say:
Bioshock for sure.
Psychonauts, It's a damn funny platformer.
Borderlands: If you liked DX:HR and Fallout, you may like this game. It has a unique art style and has some nice tongue-in-cheek humor.
Amnesia: The Dark Decent. If you like horror-survival at all this is a must play.
Portal 2.
The Orange Box in general.

Mmm, yep.
