If they were the most qualified person in the immediate area then yes. If there was someone equally or more qualified I'd get them to do it. My dad's a doctor and he says the fear that you'll harm someone you know/love makes it much harder to do a successful operation. Of course if I've got a hole the size of a beach ball in my stomach anyone's welcome to have a crack.

This reminds me of a Darwin award about a guy in New York who wanted to lose weight but didn't want to exercise and couldn't afford liposuction. Instead he anaesthetised himself with lidocaine and got his friend (who had no medical experience) to cut him open in his garage and perform liposuction using a vacuum cleaner. Unsurprisingly, he died.
