I didnt mind Fury being black in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because that´s how he´s portrayed in the Ultimate comics, but i disagee with changing a characters race without a solid justification, like in Daredevil. Examples:

I wouldnt like to see a black Captain America or an asian Thor. One is the archetype of the all american boy next door in the 40´s/50´s. The other is from Norse Mythology!

I wouldnt like to see a white Shang- chi/Master of Kung Fu or a black Mandarin. Their characters and names only make sense if the actors are asian!

I wouldnt like to see a white Black Panther or an asian Luke Cage. One is Marvel´s african iconic superhero...the other is a product of his time (70´s blaxsploitation movies). The characters must be black!

I´m not racist. I just want the characters to be true to the way they were invisioned in the comics. Minor adjustments are fine, but changing the essence of the characters can damage their respective movies.
Just my two cents.

Put simply, yes, I would mind. The race of a superhero is as iconic as their costume. You don't see superman with a blue cape instead of a red cape(Except maybe certain special suits).

However if it is a really good, well known actor, I don't think I would mind as much. I mean, I wouldn't mind if there was a Punisher movie played by Jet Lee.

Yes, I do mind. I also mind when they fuck up every other nationality in a film, i.e. make the Inuit heroes white, make the Japanese people Indian, make the Chinese people Mexican and the dark-skinned hero a pale-as-fuck camelboy from Texas! *rage*

Be ashamed, M. Night Shyamalamadingdong. Of course, when asked why he fucked everything up, he declared that he 'couldn't possibly be racist' because he's Indian. Which means, on top of everything else, he's also racist to white people (since only white middle class males can be racist or sexist -.-;)

Morgan Freeman as Magnito? F*CK YEAH!!!!
You know what that'd actually be pretty cool, if Ian Mckellan hadn't already done such a good job. But you'd have to reconcil the possibly Jewish/Polish/I think they settled on Roma backstory that involves him being a holocaust survivor.

I don't mind, but I understand that some of the comic book junkies might. Not because of racism, but because an idea of a certain character is painted in their head; this is in the same way that a black haired character - some people might not like it if the actor was blonde.

Captain America could use an ethnification, as sending a blonde-haired blue-eyed superman to fight the nazis seems a bit counterproductive.
How is that counterproductive?

It's ironic, maybe, but not really counterproductive...

Actually the first Captain America was black. Read "Truth: Red, White & Black" for his story.

Aaprt from that i do have a problem with people of colour playing heroes. You lose a lot of what make peter parker, peter parker if he suddenlt went from being a whinny jewish kid from queens, to a negro street tough from harlem.

Also to me it smacks of pandering of the worst sort, after all there have been no shortage of heroes of colour over the last few years, who you could make a movie around. I for one would love to see a Static movie... What do you think DC, i'm willing to direct it... I promise i'll do a better job then MArvle did with its X-men movie franchise.

Truth: Red White and Black takes place after Steve received the serum.

Kyle Baker (one of the creators) even clarified this:

"We got a lot of grief from the Captain America fans on that series until the fifth and sixth issues came out; when it turned out that we hadn?t tinkered with the continuity. Before that, everybody was very upset, because our story started with Pearl Harbor, and everybody knows that the first issue of Captain America took place before Pearl. Somewhere in the middle of the series, it's revealed that Cap already existed, and we hadn?t tinkered with the timeline, and suddenly, the book is okay."

EDIT: But yeah, I agree... even if the black Peter Parker isn't gangster or from Harlem, it would still be weird and unnecessary.

Of course I mind. Right should be right...

Just in the same way as I dont want any white people playing a superhero who is usually black.

I don't mind if they change the ethnicity for a superhero, as long as the don't make it into a plot point,
I would prefer a better actor, of the "wrong" race, than a bad actor of the "right" one.

Why does it need to be changed? Was there something wrong with it in the first place?

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Does not bother me as long as it makes sense, and they are not stereotypical.

Though I would like to see more super heroes in films who are not white or even not amaerican.

Union Jack anyone?

Or Isaiah Bradley?

Meh, it wouldn't ruin the movie, it's just that the characters aren't supposed to be any other ethnicity.
Yeah, the real question should just be "why aren't there more black/asian/hispanic etc. superheroes with there own comic books?" That way, you'd see more movies with varying super hero nationalities. It works both ways. Imagine if the Blade or Shaft was cast as a white man in the movies. What the hell would they be thinking?

Well, yeah, I would mind it. There's a reason Spiderman's skin colour doesn't change with every issue, just like his facial features don't. He's supposed to be one person, and normal people (even those with superpowers) don't tend to change their appearances on regular intervals. I would be equally annoyed if they suddenly decided to portray Superman with a five foot long beard in a new movie.
No, I'm not racist, I would also hate it if some white or asian guy came along and starred as Blade.

Edit: Oh my god! How awesome wouldn't it be having Captain America played by a Chinese actor?! Who's with me?

Edit: For the record, I think a black actor with makeup/CGI to look white, could play a white character. My issue isn't with who plays the character, it lies with the fact that I want the character to look the way he is portrayed. I wouldn't like Will Smith to star as me in the movie version of my autobiography.

Wesley Snipes as Batman. Now that would be awesome.

Also, Donald Glover as Spiderman. (ninja'd)

Wane Brady as the Joker.
How about Nicholas Cage as the Black Panther?

Nope, it's the right pick. The ultimate version of Nick Fury is modeled after Sam Jackson.

Personally, it would bother me as well as if a white person would be portraying a black hero.

edit
Before you start accusing me of racism or such bs, I'd like to point out it's because I have a perceived picture of a person that I'm used to and I don't like it when I have to change it.
