Just watched the Ginx TV MoH:Warfighter preview, I saw the "Tier 1" nations being mentioned and I wondered to myself if that might be a new direction for game developers to go?
I'm not sure how anyone else feels, but I'd like to see some FPS games that involve a protagonist that isn't British or American. I've been playing as the American "uber soldier" since Medal of Honor and Wolfenstein, and tbh, I'm rather tired of the idea, much fun as it has been over the years.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I very much enjoyed the first Modern Warfare and was fond enough of the second, but the psuedo-realistic modern war FPS genre tired for me soon after. There where too many "me too" games showing up, and the CoD weren't improving enough between sequels for my tastes.

Something that would grab my attention from the genre, though, is a protagonist that fits neither of the two most frequent stereotypes; the gung-ho action-hero American super-soldier and the throat-cutting morally-dubious British super-agent.

I can deal with the linearity that is typical of these games if the plot and characters are interesting enough, but they never are.
Think the defining moment for me where I got tired of the premise was in Modern Warfare 2, when Russia invaded New York. Outside of Red Alert 2, I think that's been feasibly impossible for Russia to do at any point in history. The fact that they ran with it to include all of Europe in MW3 told me that they'd totally lost control of the idea.
Also, the fact that you had to play as American troops in Europe and saw next to no European troops defending there homes was just a slap in the face as well.

suppose you could go to the Finno-Soviet war, Stalin got his arse handed to him for quite a while. Even if the Finns did lose.
The Finns didn't lose, they fought the Soviets into a peace treaty, and when Hitler saw how much Soviet ass they kicked he decided that Russias military must have been totally useless, which is why he then turned and tried to invade them, which sealed his own fate... so I suppose technically the Finns won World War 2. Well who'da thought it?
a Finn-Soviet war game is as good an excuse as any to play finnish one-man army, Simo Hayha.

I want to see more games where you can play as sentient creatures that almost always appear as enemies instead of being playable; like Satyrs or Centaurs.

Savage 2 - A Tortured Soul: this game was made by S2 Games - of Heroes of Newerth fame - which I consider to be the GREATEST of RAGE GAMES, way more so than any MOBA as it did not require communication to do so.

Thanks. I'm not really good with RTS games, but I'll check it out.
