Besides, what would you play in its place that offers the same mindless fun and can be said is SIGNIFICANTLY better, to the point where if I (or really anyone) played it they would be blown away, renounce them ever playing CoD or just saying they didnt know this existed, and put it on the pantheon of gaming?
Why would it have to be 'SIGNIFICANTLY better'? Surely it only needs to be a better game in one person's eyes for them not to want to play the CoD franchise. I understand you enjoy the series, and don't get me wrong, your point about playing with friends is accurate because most people seem to have a CoD title these days. I just disagree with the replacement you mentioned needing to be so much better - CoD isn't this magnificent game that you seem to think needs to be played instead.

- I could be totally missing your point, and if thats the case, then I apologise. It just doesn't seem a logical argument, the way I read it anyway.

OT: I wouldn't play Future Warfare. Partly because I can't imagine it being that great, and partly because I wouldn't want to support the CoD franchise branching into another era purely to milk a few more dollars from it.

Well... no, you're not really missing it. its just it would have to be much better. People say that Halo is better then CoD, but you still remember and play CoD on a large basis, and infact may play both. And that trend will continue, because its the standard option in "historic-realistic" shooters. So when I say something SIGNIFICANTLY different, I mean it would have to make itself become the new norm, as well as not share its spotlight with CoD.

Yes, recent CoD games havent been great (hell, some havent been average or decent), but the older ones have been and were. So it has its place and is set there. We need something to replace it, to uproot it, and to become the new standard. so until then I'll play the standard CoD, for fact there's not alot out there that does what CoD does better, on mass scale, doesnt share its spoitlight with CoD, and is on all the consoles.

If they did a totally independent IP, with weapons, settings, and enemies not from somewhere else, with the ALIENS references kept to a minimum, it could be pretty fun. Could be.

I sounds pretty good although I think they should go further back in time. WW1, American Revolution...you get the idea.
COD: Cave Wars... Yep I would play that.

Cave Control: Ugg-Ugg come in!
Ugg-Ugg: I is here!
CC: We need you to disable the Rockies' WMD (Winged Monster Dinosaur)!
UU: How do I do this?
CC: Improvise with a spear, T-Rex and some rocks... You get the general idea.
sounds like a primitive version of the RAMIREZ!!! meme.

yep, the plots and characters quickly get swept under the rug by everyone only caring for the mp.

The only reason we are even considering it is because CoD is dried up. The market is saturated, CoD has brought nothing new to the table since 2007, and all it's doing is repeating itself. CoD is over.

Yes, yes I would if someone could PLEASE give the franchise back to Infinity Ward. Stupid, poxy Treyarch!
Hell no. Treyarch handles CoD way better than IW. IW makes a more addicting game, but at least Treyarch fucking listens to the community and cares about the game. Treyarch made a great game, but it could be more addicting. But honestly, I'd rather not go back to Call of Duty to find the lobbies filled with boosters and hackers/modders again, and I'd like to see these asshats brought to justice. God knows IW doesn't give a rat's ass about the game or it's customers, so they let people do whatever the hell they want with the game.

As for the topic, if the franchise is going to the future, I'm giving up on the "Call of Duty" franchise, as it will then become Call of Halo and be even gayer than MW2.

Seems interesting. But only if it doesn't mean that the uncreative guys at IW don't rip off halo. But it is the only way there would be a decent campaign...

No. I am a bit of an anomaly when it comes to CoD. Long story short, I hated 4, MW2, and BiOPs, but I love WaW. I'm not interested in another CoD game until I have sucked every last bit of enjoyment out of WaW like the marrow out of a bone!
