Would you rather live in a world where everything is sacred, or nothing is sacred?

Yup, it's time for another one of the escapist's patented philosophical debates.

So, we all know of people complaining about what can be mocked and what can't. What should be taken seriously ect. However, if you broke it down so that either everything in the world was "sacred" or everything was considered "fair play" in any context of the word. Which version would you pick? AND WHY!?

I'd rather live in a world where nothing is sacred. I'd rather a few things I hold dear get mocked (which I can avoid if I feel uncomfortable with it) than have moral 'holier than thou' types tell me what I can and can't say, robbing me of my freedom of speech and expression.

now see, that's one thing that crossed my mind to, but technically your right to freedom and expression isn't sacred either. So technically, would that mean that others could still "rob " you of your free speech, so to speak.

Everything being sacred means nothing is sacred.

They are one and the same.

It would not matter which you chose because they would be the same thing. If nothing is sacred then nothing is sacred. However, if everything is sacred then everything is the same which means it isn't really sacred because there is nothing to compare it to.

As an animist I already believe that all things of nature have a spirit which I must respect. So I'm good with the first option.

I already think that nothing is sacred. I agree with South Park, where they rip off both sides of every argument, and hold the view that nothing is less deserving of sacredness than anything else.

Considering I live in Australia, I'm already there, so I'll stick with my answer.

PS: There is no 'right to freedom of speech, nor expression' in Australian law.
