Would you still read your favorite manga if it were a normal book?

Probably not, as manga heavily depends on large amounts of dialogue and a fitting art style, so reading it as a normal book would get kind of boring. Although I'd really like to see an author try to write the action scenes from an anime like Bleach in the form of a novel.

Actually some very popular series started out as light novels (as opposed to manga). Off the top of my head:

Slayers
Twelves Kingdoms
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Travelling Mushishi

I might, but I don't think that my favorite mangas would be anywhere near as good if they were books. There's a reason that people choose to tell their stories with this medium, and in large part it's because the stories they want to tell are told better with it. Any graphic medium requires a lot more effort to write than a book with a comparable amount of story. It's easy to forget that just because graphic novels are easier to read, that they're not a lot harder to write. Thought bubbles are extremely rare in modern graphic story-telling, so unlike a book where the author can tell you the character's thoughts, in a graphic story the author is limited to body language and conversation. Every frame in a manga or comic simply has to have a lot more purpose than any scene in a book is required to have.

Authors don't choose a more difficult medium for no reason, they choose it because it's the right medium for their story. To turn my favorite graphic tales into novels would remove from them a precious part of what made me love them in the first place.

I remember most characters by the way they look. (Long hair, trench coat, fingerless gloves)
If I had to read it, it'll help me remember their names, but that still takes effort to remember all those names.
I've had the experience through Sci-Fi books.

No. Parasyte has too much gore and too many awesome deaths to be converted into a regular book. You have to SEE the blood and the decapitations and the tentacles coming out of the head in order to experience it properly. Plus, it would be hard to describe what Migi looks like.
