Well, to be honest I was hoping for much more "enthusiastic" responses...I though this was a video game-related message board; you guys take all of this too seriously.
That might have something to do with it being a video game-related message board.

I wish somebody would nuke this world already, and put an end to all these boring and childish things like "proper education" and politics. I think people can only learn the value of life, when they're on the brink of survival.

I also want the atomic guns and my own PipBody...Any thoughts?
Hm yes, it's clearly the proper education and politics that are "childish"...

May I direct your attention to this thread:

Answer to your opening question: God no.

Answer to your post: You have six posts and I can't believe anyone would be dense enough to desire Armageddon and unending hardship. How dare you troll these boards, sir.

If you want to live in a wasteland where you have to struggle to survive terrain, people, animals, food, even water on a day to day basis then Africa has several countries that would meet your fancy; even without the nukes.

Would I want to live in a world where everyone is either a blood-thirsty mutant or sadistic drug-crazed thug, both of which would like nothing more than to tear me to shreds and use my intestines to play jump-rope?

Nope.

You would seriously want to live in a world where everyday is a struggle?

Where if the radiation doesn't kill you, a myriad of other threats will, from raiders to deathclaws?

No thanks.

I'll be over here with all the medical technology and established civilisation.

Also, video games.

Fuck you, post apocalyptic wasteland.

Anytime you ask other people for their opinions you should be prepared to hear things you won't like.

Very good responses. While I would definitely love the opportunity solely for the sake of scientific observation and research; what with all the fantastic creatures, machines and flippy shit that goes on in that universe, I would not EVER trade actually living in such a place at the cost of what I have now. Being a realist and assuming I would not be 'the one guy who gets to dick around' as others have pointed out, actually trying to survive in any Fallout game for the regular NPC is downright horrible 80% of the time. That's not even considering all the issues of such living, such as disease, malnutrition, and parasites.

The Elder Scrolls series might be a little bit better though, considering that living there might be pretty during the times when it's not being threatened by demons and evil gods. Only issue would be how everything is medieval, but then again, it wouldn't be the Elder Scrolls in any other time zone. (No, I would NOT like to see an ES game set in the future; dear god, no.)

Since in about a year and two months we'll all be living on the brink of survival anyways, I'd like to mention that my current geological location has me experiencing only minor radiation, probably about three times as much radiation we experience in a year anyways. So that part I'll be fine.

It would be a hard life, but it would bring about the evolution of man once again; since at this day and age we keep around our extremely sick and injured more out of endurement than the actual ability to allow them to feel comfort and safe in the world. Thus keeping the gene pool from weeding out the weakness of our species.

I'd fear a zombie scenario though. All possible occourances be it a man-made super strain of rabies or whatnot leave most zombies the "Fast and Furious" type that'll mow down any sort of resistance by sheer speed and numbers.....

Of course we all took this seriously; this is a videogame board on a site that focuses around technology and gaming, we ALL take this seriously and we all put time and thought into our hobby: it's kind of the centerpiece of any gaming community. Heck, I'm more surprised that you expected us not to.

I mean, did you want to start a discussion, or were you just looking for a whole bunch of people to just agree with your opening statement? Can you really say that some of these responses weren't at least amusing or thought-provoking to read?
