To start off, this is not about how to get non-addicted, but rather how to. You see, I recently played the trail thing, where you can level up to level twenty and all the time to screw around and all that. For some reason, though, it seems like the game is horrible. Maybe because I leveled up to level five then got bored? Is it like a book's beginning, where it sucks and then gets really good later on? I mean, with a metric ass tonne of people playing it, where did I go wrong?

It will get more interesting once you level up higher and interact with people more in the game. I've leveled quite a few characters and the low level questing and grind is kind of boring but things pick up the more you play.

Maybe this just isn't your game, same reason I don't play fighting games, I just don't see the fun.

Well the HUGE problem with WoW these days is that there is very little human interaction in the early levels (everyone already knows what to do and rush towards end game). This is a problem because that means that new players like you will not have much player interaction in early game, which is what I remember fondly from my early days of wow.

Not playing past lvl 5 is not a good representation of the game though... since it is the end game most people who are addicted to the game are addicted to.

When I originally picked it up, I thought it was pretty mediocre...then I ran a dungeon with a few friends. Six years later, I'm still playing.

It gets better later on. Usually, there is no one to interact with at the beginning.
Of course, it may just be that you don't/won't enjoy it.

What class(es) did you try? Some are just horrible at low level. Druid is particularly bad early on. Some say paladins are too, but I never played one of those.

Don't discount mid-level content. VC is a great low-level (15-18) instance on the Alliance side. My favorite instance ever was Scarlet Monastery, a level 40ish instance. I also liked Gnomeregan, (30ish Alliance) but most people hate it. I guess I'm just weird.

A good game should be good all the way through, not just at the end. I used to play it constantly, but have quit now for a year and a half. The game grew stale and left a bad taste in my mouth during the last expansion, and after getting a 10 day free trial, I made a character and got to level 2 before quitting.
