I don't really get why people play WoW..It's expensive and time consuming..All you do is grind levels till you hit the level cap and then there is another expansion that makes you grind all over again.
Because where else can you do this? Me likey numbers.(Spoilering for being friggin' massive)

Blaming the game for failing a grade rather than a person. That's like me blaming porn for my chronic wank-ification.

Take responsibility.
Yeah, this pretty much is the thread.

If people want to ruin their lives with A game (not necessarily WoW; people can get addicted to ANY game) that's their own business. It's the same as any addiction. If you drink too much you're going to have to deal with the consequences. If you eat too much you're going to have to deal with the consequences. If you play games too much you're, once again, going to have to deal with the consequences. Yes, WoW has a greater tendency to cause addiction based upon the premise of the game. The whole point of it is that it never truly ends. Very few ever finish their character(s), and if you do, you just roll alts to begin the process all over again.

I for one play it with my wife and we have a blast, but we don't allow it to consume our every moment. We raid occasionally (no more then once or twice a week). My wife has a healer and/or warlock that she brings while I'm one of the main tanks for my guild. We're in a pretty small guild who'se currently learning 10 man Ulduar content. We are by no means top of the pack when it comes to our characters, but we have fun and enjoy playing, killing and dying with our guildies. In the end, that's kind of the point of a GAME, especially an MMO.

It's your responsibility, take charge.

Also, for people complaining it's "expensive". Seriously? If £8.99 a month is alot to you, you have bigger problems.

OK, I play World of Warcraft, am in college and get all my work in on time. I also raid and have an active social life both in and out the game.

Do you know how I achieve this miracle? I remind myself it's a fucking game and turn it off when real life comes first. Yes, dropping Kel'thuzad for a decent staff is fun, but so is having a job you enjoy and getting laid. If you can't do that, it's your own fault.

Also, in response to your question, yes. Everyone should play it. It would seperate the strong minded from the rest of the herd and stop chavs and rednecks reproducing.

I play WoW while drinking...alone - I like to multi-task my addictions.

Actually bought a 2nd PC to encourage the Wife to play, but she lost interest back when I was playing it hard and probably because I demanded perfect healboting.

Serve her right, rolling a priest.

What happened to that EVE-Online sychophant, he's always lurking around trying to poach people?
Actually, I'm kind of a freak in that respect, I've never been drunk. I never have more then 1 or 2 drinks, preferably vodka. My co-workers swear that one day they'll get me out to the bar and get me smashed. HA! Try they shall! ^_^

I actually just spent a grand upgrading my wife's comp so that she'd stop lagging in Dalaran and on Thad fights in Naxx. Suffice it to say it's lowered her nerd rage level and upped my omg sex level since she's no longer pissed that she died on Thad or Ignis/Razorscale, again, and again, etc... Best grand I've ever invested.

 I've played EVE, actually I think my account is still active and training one of those 500 day skills. I'll have to check when I get home.

 Go try Naxx, it's basically the diet-raiding and can be busted out in 3-4 hours with a decent group, kind of like Kara used to. Ulduar on the other hand is taking steps to being closer to the more hardcore raiding.

Your co-worker sounds like a smart and wise soul, who most likely has forgotten more secrets and pure knowledge then you will ever accumulate.

Pffft, he's an arrogant bastage that thinks he's a smart and wise soul but couldn't remember for the life of him. I still think fondly on the time he was spitting his chew on the commons floor at work because he was too drunk to give a crap, all while telling me of his recent altercation with an individual who he could only describe as "Gravyneck". Ahhh, good times, good times.

Errr, anyway back OT.

As i've kind of led to be my belief earlier in the thread, any gamer should at least try WoW. If they should stick with it, that's up to them and their ability to moderate themselves.

Well, being someone who played for upwards of 3 years I can honestly say this. It was a fun game, absolutely addictive but fun nonetheless. I found myself quitting out of complete boredom after a while though. Blizzard was continually making the game easier in order to accommodate the amount of incoming players with brain function equivalent to that of a gerbil. The leveling became far too fast, Naxxramas had already been cleared in the beta before the actual game hit the shelves and PvP combat was one sided toward whoever had the right combination of endless time to grind honor, cheapest class, and physical stamina (for the face rolling on your keyboard). For my last 2 months of play I started to research account selling websites and also subscribing to about 15 different private servers so I could just dick around with whatever class I wanted to. Overall, yes it was a decent game, but I can't say that it's really worth the money anymore. It just doesn't provide enough of a challenge to keep me entertained. Set it back to pre-BC then we may be able to get the game back to its former glory.

I tried out a friend's characters for a while, saw that it wasn't really much better than the completely free ones I play (Perfect World and Megaten) and buggered off back to those.

Not a bad game, though. It's just that...I can get something almost as good for nothing.
