Am I the only one who thinks this is all bullshit? How exactly does a headband "detect brainwaves" and "concentration"? If it was that easy to minaturise this shit, why are CT scanners the size of vans?
a single small sensor, like in an EKG

a CT scanner actually looks at your entire brain and maps out activity.
the single sensor just notes activity in an area and responds to it.
plus, at CT scan can work in the outer brain areas, which is some weird part that the mapping of varies from person to person.

basically, someone rigged an EKG sensor to some electronic bits.
I'm still not very convinced. Detecting brain impulses is all well and good, but normally such devices have dozens of little receivers which you stick all over the head. I find it hard to believe that one sensor in a small box on the side of your head can actually gauge your "attentiveness" and "relaxation" states, especially when relaxation itself still uses a lot of brain activity (you use as much brain power to look at a beautiful sunset as you would to complete a difficult maths puzzle).
sunset=math problem in brain power? i'd be interested to see the sources that did that research.
the device seems to be a modified neurosky
http://www.neurosky.com/
the company even has development applications and simple games that are controlled by the device.
on the topic of neural sensors, emotiv http://www.emotiv.com/ has development, games, and a far more advanced and expensive sensor.

besides, there is that nerf mindbullets project that also uses a neurosky to make a mind controlled nerf gun.
I think I originally read about it in the kids book "bulging brains", though it is also mentioned in an actual study [http://mmspg.epfl.ch/files/content/sites/mmspl/files/shared/BCI/publications/rapport_lucastschuor.pdf] regarding these "EEG" impulse sensing machines. The article explains that the devices work by recognising patterns in brainwaves, rather than just simply detecting more or less impulses. Apparently, though the brain is always active, the frequency of brainwaves and synaptic action varies depending on the activity.

I'm intrigued. I'd want one to wear to class, just so I could show my teachers just how disinterested I am when they prattle on about football instead of teaching. ._.

If they make them have a full range of motion, actually respond to your mood, and make them a little less bulky, then I will be all over these things...I have always wanted cat ears.

oops, ekg is the heart thing, isn't it?

well, at least someone here understands how this works. congratulations!

not nekos, inus, etc.
I googled the word "inus" and got a tonne of japanese porn and corgi dogs, wtf does that word mean?
Yeah sure. Inu means 'dog'. You Googled it and only got images of dogs. Even changing the 'i' in 'inus' to an 'a' gets only pages of medical diagrams and images. Where ever you searched, it certainly wasn't Google.
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=inus&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1360&bih=667

make sure you have safe search off ;) and please don't call me a liar.
Didn't call you a liar. Still don't see the 'Japanese porn' in that link.
I think the fetish is mostly your own.
Fetish, no one has mentioned a fetish? What the hell are you on about now?
So you didn't mention searching for dogs and porn in the same sentence? And that wasn't a complete fabrication? I still don't see the rampant dogs and porn when searching for 'inu', but you claim that you do. Hmmm ...
Besides, the Japanese wouldn't search for Japanese words in English.

If it doesn't come with a separate attachment that monitors and reacts to frustration through purring, then I don't see the appeal.

Idea awesome. In 30 years when they're perfected to match a real cats ears even better.

Me: Ohh technology where art thou feasible jetpack for thine masses.

Scientist: Welllll...... we made some cat ears that react to your brainwaves!

Me: Well thats cool and all, but I'm talkin like a Shakespearian play here. I want a jet pack so bad.
