Today, my mother asked me to sum up the plot of Ulysses by James Joyce in a few sentences for her, since she'd heard about it. I just stared at her a few moments incredulously while my brain fizzled.

I hate you so much, James Joyce. I hate you, college professor, for making me read it. I hate you both so much. All I could think of to say, after I regained the power of speech, was, "a pretentious guy wrote a pretentious book so that he could feel even more pretentious." I feel that summed up the book rather nicely.

I was just watching a new Louis Theroux documentary on the Westboro Baptist Church on iPlayer.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

I watched this last night and paused it numerous times just to face palm...

I spent that whole documentary facepalming, how can they believe half the stuff they say, its genuinely some of the most disgusting things ever!!

Just finished watching it a couple of hours ago, the bit that most amazed me is when they said if the courts rule against them on picketing funerals than they'll move to Jerusalem...

and the look of fear and sadness whenever Louis talks to the younger members of the Church
