http://tobolds.blogspot.com/2009/07/wow-subscriptions-down-to-5-million.html

Rumors are now circulating That wow's Chinese servers, which have been down for over a month already, have been put on permenent lockdown by the Chinese government. Due to pending lawsuits from The9 and allegedly breaking some of china's commerce laws. At best one could hope the case will be settled in a year, but right now there's no news of a possible timespan.

Thoughts? China's servers host over 6 million players.

Aren't half of those six million illegal gold and loot farmers? I think TIME magazine did a story on that, or something.

that's a lot of people that are gonna need WoW rehab. I hope they can handle it.

Massive blow to Blizzard though. that's what I figure is 90 million bucks per month. (just done in my head and I already have a headache from beating my head against the wall)

Firstly, another post on this has already been made.

Secondly, Blizzard doesn't get anywhere near the $15/month that the US players fork out. Besides, if I still played wow, this wouldn't be a bad thing at all...bye bye gold farmers.

And you're correct Destal, Chinese players only pay $0.06/hr.

Oh damn. I've travelled back in time again.

The chinese players tend to pay very little to play.
It also means that we Western players may get bothered less by Goldfarmers.

And maybe Pandaren too.

Funny thing, Blizzard doesn't even give a flying... kodo about the goldfarmers. I guy I know used to be a GM on an American server, they were told that, "A goldspammer may say his message three times, and may only be banned after that." In other words, "Just ban some spammers to keep the players happy."

Also, you know how they sometimes spell their website's URL on the ground, and some guy saying "look at the ground!"? they can't do anything about that, either.

I know, I know, "a-guy-I-know"-stories are usually not the most reliable ones, but you'll have to trust me on my honest blue eyes on this one.

Wait, they're brown...
