Yeah... no. They'll do that. I don't want to believe it either, but there it is. Pandas, Pokemon and warriors with Hand of Freedom, extra damage and rage-generation.

They wouldn't pull of such a stunt at Blizzcon. They just wouldn't.
+ a lot of people really like the Panda-theme. They'd be double-screwed it they did that

People started hailing the doom of WoW earlier this year when it dropped from 12 million to 10 million subs but it didn't drop any lower.
Wait...Blizzard still says that they have 10 million active subs? Then I must push this button:

They've had about 12.5 million TOTAL subscriptions, i.e. 12.5 million people have in total pushed the subscription button. That counts for all those who had multiple accounts, created one for a month in vanilal and then left, those who only played through vanilla, those who quit in Wrath, those who have quit in Cata and those who are still playing.

So you take 12.5 million, minus multiboxing, minus those who left in vanilla, minus those who left in TBC, minus those who left in Wrath, and minus those who left in Cata. I think you're after that is ending up with a lot less than 10 million. I'd say about 3-4. Don't get me wrong, WoW is still a huge game, but they haven't made the trial last forever and been giving out TBC for free for no reason.

And with more and more people leaving WoW and more and more MMO:s popping up, there isn't that many that'll join it.
Yeah. Just look at hte stunt they are pulling with their "subscribe for WoW now for 12 months ahead, and you get Diablo 3 free, and Beta Access for the new Addon"
Sneaky Activision. Trying to boot the competition out, ie TOR and GW 2. Very sneaky indeed

These aren't WoW forums, are they?

Again, only a small fraction of the WoW player base frequent forums of any kind. The only thing that would change if they "stopped whining" is that the community would seem perfectly content with every change Blizzard is introducing. It is possible to show distaste towards some part of a whole product and still enjoy it.
You do know that people can write on this forum and not actually be referring to this forum right? Also have you ever been on the WoW forum? A large amount of people who play WoW visit Forums, it's rather ignorant of you to think that they don't, WoW players and people just like the rest of us. I have first hand experience with how many people who play WoW visit forums, especially the WoW forum itself.

I'm actually kind of happy that the next expansion is something light-hearted.

Y'know, me thinks if something like this had been released before Cata or Wrath, people would be jizzing their pants rather than gnashing their teeth. Perhaps the current style of games has convinced anything that is a shade less than serious is awful, and that for something to be serious it must be as dark and brutal as possible. That is not WoW.

This is not a game for the strong of heart. This is a game of gnomes in star trek uniforms, drunk off their ass dwarves, Jamaican trolls and giant walking cows. This is a game of British werewolves and shyster goblins--and if they can have all this and still manage to make the world feel epic and engaging, then they can have pandas dammit!

Pandaren was an April Fool's joke WC fanboys took way too seriously, they got a small role in WC3, then Chris started writing about them in response to their fandom.
Panderan were a drawing Samwise used for his kid, but it did get included as easter eggs in WC3. In WC3x, it was a tier 1 hero unit, and very serious play used it. As well, lorewise, Chen Stormstout, was an integral part in the events leading to the building and formation of Orgrimmar. That's a bigger role in the lore than Draenei and Worgen!

Moreover, just because something starts as tongue-in-cheek doesn't mean it can't be taken seriously.

Well to everyone quitting WoW because it's not completely grimdark and the pandaren will be a new race... Me and my dwarf monk say goodbye and don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out.

Considering how WoW has been running out of ideas since after Burning Crusade, I'm willing to bet this is real and the definite Jump The Shark moment for the game.
This. Blizzard has lost all credibility with this new Pandaren-expansion. Indeed this will be their downfall.

This looks fucking awesome, and the game will be better off without everybody who thinks otherwise.

I don't get it... whats so wrong about pandaren?

In Warcraft you have (besides the classics orcs, humans, elves and such) Fish people, Dog people, Wolf people, pig people, snake people, walrus people, bull people but panda people? No way thats completely out of warcraft fantasy, right?

As far as your technical complaints, Blizzard does everything half assed now because they know their fans are morons who will praise it as Jesus no matter what.

The don't care about lore and haven't for a long time.

The Panda men were supposed to be in the game a long time ago but because of Chinese law they didn't do it. Appearenlty this is the only idea they have left. They also know how many furries play their game and this is yet another way to panda to them.

It's not a joke. It is quite real. Blizzard will now pump out one shitty, game-raping expansion every year because they can.
Well tbh from an unbiased standpoint. All the people who hate with little reason. Is as good as all the people who love for little reason. Just throwing that out there. And before you say (Oh but Nik, I have tons of reason to hate it!) I am sure they are no better than the people you call Fanboys have of reasons to love it.

You see the expansion as dumping the game down. Well obviously its making the thing even more easy. To get more people in, the hardcore players will stay because they will still have heroic dungeons. And they will open up to the casual crowd which will allow millions of more people to join in. Its business obviously. And while doing so they made an area that is new. Its not just a new area with more of the same. Its a new area with new stuff. New sorts of quests, not just new quests but different ways to solve the quests. A bit like what you will see in Starwars The Old Republic (Might be one of the reasons they did it)

I guess its just added to the list of things the Vocal Escapist Minority doesnt like.

Children.
Corporations of all kinds.
World of Warcraft.

Not to sound hypocritical. But I think some escapist-users should learn to be more civil. Even if they dont like Kids, or Corporations, or World of Warcraft. They shouldnt be such arses about it. (Especcialy the first one, seriously. Makes you look like arseholes)

Now Syl. This wasnt speccifically pointed at you. But I think you will agree that quoting everyone who wrote something almost the exact same as you, would fill up half this page.

Actually, Blizzard trademarked 'Cataclysm' way before it was announced.

I quit the game months ago and have no intention of going back to it but I just felt I had to clear that up.
