So it's been nearly a week since the pre-expansion patch dropped. What do my fellow WoW players think of the Iron Tide patch? I thought the Blasted Lands quests and the UBRS revamp were kinda disappointing. They were severely undertuned for current players. Though I'm aware they're intended for future level 90s who are only 90 for a day, they could have temporarily tuned them higher.

Going into WoD, have you decided on your main class? I'm going in as a Warlock for Mythic content as I have every other expansion since TBC. I'm glad that Demonology has made a comeback as a viable raid spec. I'm looking forward to Cataclysm in Demon form. Curse of Doom for everybody! I'll probably have my main alt be my Brewmaster Monk because Chi Explosion looks like too much fun.

Looks like the new changes they've done for low level dungeons are good too, bonus objectives giving big chunks of bonus XP means the dungeon spammer like me can level faster than ever.

So what are your thoughts? How are you planning on going into WoD? Gonna raid hardcore Mythic content or just do LFR and call it quits when you've seen it all?

Most likely I'll focus on my Combat Rogue and Unholy DK as per usual.

They made some changes I'm not overly fond of, but I'm not usually the one to get all pissy about it. In my experience it's pretty uncommon that any changes have made the game unplayable.

That being said I'm not too fond of the changes they made to healing monks since you can barely defend yourself in "Wise Serpent" stance anymore.

Also I'm going to miss Rupture being on my Combat Rogues rotation, poisons and bleed effects should be signature for all Rogues.

As for the content, UBRS is fine as a "check it out" previuw, but there's no reason to really do it more than once and while I like the Blasted Lands quest, it's scaled more towards new 90s with no real signature gear or loot to be gained (other than the new pet)

Previous launch events have had something for any level to do and I always liked that, but I get that with the size of the game and the messed up timeline it's probably easier to focus on current content.

All the same I'd have liked to see a tiered escalation event leading up to launch, killing a few Orcs and Ogres doesn't make me feel like I'm fighting back an invasion.

This. While the new character models are really nice (I'm so f***ing thrilled my Orc Warrior has stopped breathing with his mouth), I really do feel that the Iron Tide is rather underwhelming. It feels less like you're beating back an invasion force and more like you're engaged in a minor skirmish, the sort of fight that you get in Warsong Gulch but less fun.

It really should have had more to it, like a slow escalation over the weeks leading up to WoD.

I'll do what I've done since TBC: shadowpriest. Can't raid properly any more though, don't have the time. I just hope that the raid environments are good. I quit years ago solely because of Trial of the crusader. Worst excuse of a raid I've ever suffered through.

I'll be playing my Disc Priest, and probably swapping from Shadow to Holy for dual spec to round out my healing arsenal. I prefer to solo as Disc whenever possible...Shadow is moderately faster but the two specs gear very differently, and I can't get a "proper" Shadow build going.

Haven't tried the expansion events yet, thought I'd wait for the crowds to clear (and the queues to get shorter).

If I can find a guild that I enjoy the company of, I might raid flex/normal. I think the chances of me raiding Mythic lie between slim and none. If all I end up doing is LFR and out, so be it.

As a note, I just tried out Mythic Garrosh Hellscream today and what a joke he is now. We pushed him with a completely unorganized group into phase 4 with no 2nd intermission. My guild is taking some time off organized raids after we got our Heroic Garry kill (pre-patch) until WoD but we're seriously considering organizing ourselves again to take advantage of the now severely under-tuned Mythic Garrosh to farm heirlooms over the coming weeks.

So if you guys haven't really got into Heroic SoO pre-patch, now is a good time. It's been nerfed so hard. And bring a Fury Warrior or two. They're doing insane amounts of DPS.

Oh and for the folks asking about WoD raid content, Blizzard has turned the spectacle up to 11.

Some examples of the fights I'm really looking forward to.

I'm waiting until it comes out before I buy back, but I'll probably do what I've been doing. Prot Pally for PvE purposes and a Holy offspec for PvP. I'm wanting to get back into questing, because that's what I originally did in WoW, and those were probably my favorite, most memorable times playing WoW. I miss the feeling of exploring a world, instead of grinding to get to the next content, and then killing the same guys over and over again.

Guardian/Feral, Ret/Prot, Blood/Unholy, Prot/Fury, Brew/Wind on Horde side. Only just rejoined a couple months ago. Likely gonna finish the cape on my Guardian, and push all five tanks quickly after WoD comes out. I have enough free-time to raid, but not a regular schedule. Loving the tank changes so far. Prot Pally is finally funny rather than simply effective. Button clutter is way the hell down, and the survival CDs left are just plain useful.

I'll wind up strictly limiting PvP to random BGs. I'm simply terrible in any kind of ranked content. Looking forward to tooling around with garrisons. I've gotta level the druid and monk traditionally through quests, because I don't feel as comfortable with the core parts of the monk class as I should be. He was my WoD boost, and Timeless Isles/LFR SoO are only mediocre testing grounds.
