Just look at the 11th name.
Interesting, isn't it?
I guess this thread would be pointless with just that, so I ask you Escapists
to share any interesting facts about video gaming characters that have sg to do with real life.

Who is Robert De Sable? I've never heard of him.

The Final Fantasy series and things like Chrono Trigger uses a lot of real life names in their games, Masamune, Excalibur, Odin, Alexander, Melchior, Belthasar etc...

Y'know, the targets in Assassin's Creed were based of people in real life. Obviously the dates are a bit off, but almost all the people really existed.

I've played the game and I completely have forgotten.

OT: I can't remember any names apart from Sherlock Holmes.

just read the divine comedy or the Edda's (norse mythological texts). plenty of games have used numerous things from those three texts. e.g. Dante from Devil may Cry is named after the main character from divine comedy.

Dante Aligheri was the author of the Divine Comedy as well as the protagonist.

Epona was a Gallic horse goddess before she became Link's first choice in transport.

Even if you didn't know AC was based loosely on reality... did you not notice the maaaaaaaaaany many many times the templars were mentioned in the game?

Holy shit guys, people writing fiction often use real world names/ideas and transport them into their stories!

Quick, I'll get on the phone to the BBC, you guys sort out writing us a story.
