Well, that's what they get for turning it into a hyper-advanced Etch-A-Sketch.

Seriously, they've made the game so easy and (dare I say it) casual that it's just not fun...

Also, why do all clothes the Forsaken wear automatically become ripped! That makes no sense!

Oh my god. Today, the human population increases by 5 million.

I drop a tear for the lost souls still trapped in that horrible place.
Let us pray for them.

They've been in the dark (of a bedroom with closed curtains and glowing monitor) for a long time now. When they finally see the light (outside their front doors), will the freshness of the air force their lungs to bleed and shut down?

I take it there's still a topic in here amongst all the trendy WoW-bashing...

Anyway, in the time I did spend playing WoW, it's not like I could tell if I was running into any chinese players/gold farmers but if this means there are less bots running around the Elemental Plateau, then that would still make me happy. I've known the frustration.

not necessarily. (did i spell that right?)
it would probably be the size of a small US city. 5 million people is about how many people live in baltimore, where i live. im sure there are countries out there that have such a small population, but i dont think they are well known. or perhaps they are. i ought to use the search engine.

EDIT: world census as of 2004 shows that a small indonesian country called tavura has the worlds lowest population: around 11,000 people. you have proved me wrong.

Announcement of Lich King was pretty much when I dropped out of WoW. It was a fun enough game, but paying money each month for Battlegrounds (which I'm sure there are a thousand games or more with team based pvp out there) was a little silly.

So wait. Your source is "some guy's blog?" Some guy estimating on his blog?

It's true that the Chinese servers are offline right now, but A.) that doesn't mean all the subscribers aren't coming back, and B.) many have started playing on Taiwanese servers (see the Chinese guild "Stars" that achieved Yogg-Saron w/ no keepers just the other day).

This wouldn't affect any chinese players playing on US servers at all. Only Chinese player playing on Chinese servers.

Oh boo-hoo...only 5 million. You make it sound like 5 million is a low number. Most MMO developers would kill for that number.

Hate to break it to everyone but even with this blow WoW is way to ingrained in the public to just die it's going to be around for a long time.
So was smallpox. I don't see that around anymore.
Brilliant.

My hatred towards WoW = Al Gore's hatred toward Florida. That game has to end. That's all I really have to say about it. It's like Satan reincarnated into an evil soul-stealing MMORPG. For which you pay a monthly fee.

And so it begins. Now I'll just sit back and wait for The Old Republic to deal the killing blow. XD

I would beg to differ on all fronts, as someone who's played the game off and on for years. There's nothing inherently soul-stealing about the game, and they've taken steps to make it far more casual than it's ever been.

It only steals your life if you let it :p

So six million people in China can't play World of Warcraft for a while.

a million of those people finally found a job
two million started exercising for the time in years
three million got that promotion they've been after
four million lost their virginity
five million found true love

Regardless, all six million people found themselves better off, healthier, and happier.

....................

Now if only we could do something about the other five million people playing!

Y'know, this isn't as dire as it sounds. Especially since the Chinese are mostly on American servers, selling us gold.

Really, though, it's not about how many players the game has, it's about how many people hate the game for no good reason other than the fact THEY DELIBERATELY LOOK FOR POPULAR GAMES TO HATE.

World of Warcraft is NOT the epitome of evil, it is in fact quite fun. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself. If you try it and don't like it, that's your opinion and at least you have tried it and can form a genuine opinion. If you try it and like it, you aren't required to buy it and become a mindless zombie who talks in mouth-breathing and leet-speek. WoW got all those players because they are people who tried the game, liked it and wanted to continue to play it. That is why they have the number of subscribers (I assume the Chinese servers will be back up sooner or later) they do.

Besides, though many of the player base ARE lifeless zombies, many of them, myself included, actually DO have social lives, friends, jobs and priorities higher on the list than a video game.

PLEASE STOP BEING FUCKING MORONS AND LOOK FOR SOMETHING ELSE TO HATE.

I don't get it. There is so much beef with wow. Why is it because it's successful? Is this "I'm gonna be cool and hate something is popular because it makes me cool?" I hate the, "It's so easy and casual" answer too. You can make it as challenging as you want. Hence the tons of achievements they put in the game. I have yet to see a reason for the hate that is well thought out.

Edit: I take that back one person said they didn't like what wow did to the mmo-industry. I agree the amount of players you need now to be considered successful is ridiculous.

Other than that I have yet to see one and await your answers.

Like those 5 million players is going to hurt alot they probaly got enough cash left on wath they earned.

$10-$15 ea month saved it up from like not sure 10-15 million players dang alot of money.

To make an account $14-$20 expansion packs $20 and $34 +- prices like that i guesse they got enough money to keep the servers running?

Also did somebody notice that the Lich king looks like the Witch king from lotr ? :p
