Alright, so I just got burned by *CENSORED* *ANOTHER WEBSITE CLAIMING TO PAY* *CENSORED*- essentially, they ran the other way on my contract. That'll be the subject of a future article, and it's not what I'm discussing here. Essentially, I'd like to write for The Escapist, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea now. I heard much of what happened to Extra Credits and while I certainly would love to pitch an article to Escapist, I fear that three months will come and go, and my $250 will never come.
So, what do you guys think? Should I pitch my article or take it elsewhere? Quite frankly, I'd just like to be paid for my work.

From this point forward I highly doubt any contracts between content creators and The Escapist (or Themis Media?) will be so loosely worded.

My response is halfway torn between 'Escapist pay? Lolololololol' and 'run while you still can'.

Seriously you may as well pitch but remember to get an agreement as to your pay.
That bad huh? Yipes. Well, I pitched already and still haven't gotten a reply after about a week, but I'm just so shocked over what's going on with EC.. Thanks for the advice though, I'll have to make sure I get some sort of agreement.

The Escapist do pay all their content producers but due to financial constraints it may take a long time for you to get your cheque. I've heard of people waiting on cheques for 8-9 months before they got them. However, I have never heard of anyone, no matter what the content is, not being paid.

Don't just pitch to one, this will sound like i'm trying to make you a literary whore but, put yourself around a bit.

The more people you show your work to the more chance you have of getting hired.

While we all have that one company we would love to work for and that one dream job (mmmm beer taster) sometimes you have to aim in other directions aswell.

It's just a case of putting yourself around and seeing if anyone grabs you.

LOL, thanks, any other recommendations? The Escapist is the best I've found as far as pay goes, but I'm awfully apprehensive about it because of how long they're takign to reply...
Also, I've written a review, which, as you may guess, is rather time sensitive.
Here's an example of my work:

Here's another, it's number 51:

Considering what is happening to Extra Credits (which I imagine is one of the main contributors on the site, hell its the only reason I come here), and considering what happened to Unreal Realms (They didn't get paid for 6 months so they left, in the end they didn't get paid until 14 months after they were supposed to), which was another major contributor, I'm gonna say no. I'm biased though, since I only came here for Extra Credits, so take that as you will.

Besides here I would suggest taking a look at this website..

Have a glance over and see if anything takes your fancy.

I'm not sure what the competition is like for sites like this and getting a job as a writer but maybe freelance is the way to go.

That is unless you do get hired by someone.

The only advantage to freelance is you can write for whoever you wish whenever you want but it's not a steady income and can be a bit hit and miss.
