Ummm... Dragon Age, with the expansion coming out today, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Chaos Rising expansion for DoW2, Assassin's Creed 2... And that's just the stuff on the PC that I liked. There are tons of other games on other platforms that are great (seriously, if I had any money I'd be all over a PS3 right now), or great games that are simply not to my tastes.

You really should read up more. Heck, just reading the Reviews and New Releases section on Gamespot would likely help you out...

If you ask me there haven't been any truly great games, with a few notable exceptions, since the last console generation.

Are you serious? I've been seeing a run of near perfect games being released since January.

Edit:

Has anyone else besides me noticed the huge lack of decent games coming into the market? I find that there has not been a single good release since at least November, maybe early December at a push.

Granted i'm part of the European market so i don't get games as early as some of the users here but, there has been nothing out for coming up to 4 months now. God of war 3 is being released here on the 19th, which I am looking forward to. I have yet to play Mass Effect 2 which was another game I intended to purchase but I begin to wonder whether or not it is worth the buy/

I am a long time Grand Turismo fan and i have been very annoyed of the huge delays posted to it's release.

If anyone has any recommendations for some good, currently playable PS3 games please tell me.

Cheers.

Now, forgive me if this offends you or is heresy in some way, but Forza Motorsport 3 is out, at least here in the states, and if you like Gran Turismo I assume you'd rather enjoy Forza too. Unless you don't. :p

I have a sudden desire to smack you around the head with my ff13 collectors guide book. Except like I dont wanna damage it, or know where you live. And I guess it would take quite alot of effort to get to you. But still I think I made my point. I love ff13.
Well, to be honest the FF series is a bit of a niche that doesn't cater to the majority of gamers. And the group of gamers who own the collectors guide book is an even smaller niche :p

Don't try too hard to be pessimistic man!

As for the OP, your moaning about there being no good games since last november is frightening to say the least. You might want to consider a different hobby.

And for God's sakes, Mass Effect 2 IS worth the buy. Maybe you've got it into your head that it's shit by lurking these forums. If that's the case, stop reading this forum so much! It is one of the most moany, grouchy, miserable places on the internet. It's like the internet version of Britain.

Lots of brilliant games coming out, sadly you just not like said brilliant games.

BioShock 2 (well...not thát brilliant), Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Bad Company 2 and FF13 (I'm going to take people's word for it that it's good) have all been released since November. That's plenty of titles, heck, I bet more titles than an average person's time and wallet allows.

And yes, Mass Effect 2 is worth the buy, a LOT actually. Do play Mass Effect 1 first, it makes ME2 a lot better. Not only are lots of the story elements carried on to ME2 (I love a continuing universe), but ME1 is also painfully mediocre in certain area's in which ME2 absolutely rocks.

Wise and insightful comment. Personally I found Infamous got insanely boring quite quickly. Worst bit of reviewing Yahtzee's ever done. Do not trust a reviewer who tells you a game is fun after he's spent a mere weekend with it. No perspective on replay value.

To the OP, it's been out for a while, but I found Civilization Revolutions to be quite addictive, bringing me back again and again. Perhaps not your style (it is a bit slow), have you played Assassin's Creed II? Not a bad one that.

Allow to smack you with my ME2 Limited Edition game...

OT: Though 2009 did have a good drought of fantastic games that does not mean nothing has come out.

ME2, DA:O, Heavy Rain, MW2, GOWIII, Soul Silver, and several others are worth buying as well as the Dawn of War II expansion.

I was really surprised when I saw that in HMV on saturday. I was originally just planning on getting final fantasy XIII for the PS3 but after seeing that aswell I bought both :D
Quite liking it so far, although there seems to be a lot of complaining about the wraithguard who are actually not that difficult to kill.

Edit: Oh and to the original poster

yeah they dont seem that hard to deal with, really not much is that hard altho the zealots with the suicide bombs do seem a bit op at least for a melee heavy army to deal with

I'm not being pessimistic. Of course I should qualify my statement by saying that I'm not a fan of generic shooters staring space marines with tiny dicks wearing cars for armor. Games who's story basically involves 'go here, kill things'. All of which pretty much describes a huge portion of the games released for the this console generation, well more then I'd like anyway. And even many of the leftovers have been lacking something. I just look at the number of games I bought for the last console generation and the number I've bought for this generation so far and I think to myself, "Something was defiantly lost somewhere along the way."

Ah fair enough. To be honest I only really come either here or to lolcats, so my view on the sliding scale of cynicism is a little incomplete.
