A few months ago I needed to sell my wii due to money issues and I had a ton of wii-ware/virtual console games,Now at the present time money isn't an issue so I picked up another wii to which I thought "I would be able to re download all my games like if you get a new HD for your xbox/ps3" Turns out you CAN'T there is no history with what you bought in the past.. I mean seriously Nintendo!!! If you against people that emulate old nes/snes..ect games and even as to go as far as trying to sue these people you would make this feature of re downloading PURCHASES available to the public cause there is no reason why we should spend our hard earned money ON SHIT WE ALREADY PAID FOR!

Now my fellow Wii-owning Escapists.. have you guys found a way to get your games back ?

Copy them to a SD card before selling it. That's the only way, I think.

You sold your Wii that had the serial number that had your purchases. While your needed money...that was a bad idea. But I also blame Nintendo for not having a way to link your account. Contact Nintendo about your situation. They've helped my friend who did the same mistake.

Well I never have/nor will sell my primary system...so I can re-download them at anytime.

Ok .. Yes I do understand I should have copied them to a SD card..but I didn't cause I was under the impression I could re download my games at a later date.

You should have copied them to an SD card. It would have saved you loads of trouble.
Even if you/she could've done that, you cannot play the games you downloaded on a new Wii. Nintendo made sure that couldn't happen do to piracy(As in copying it to give it to a friend.)

Call. Nintendo's customer service is actually quite good. Don't be angry with them, appear clueless to the customer service rep and they will try to cater to your needs.

I can't say they'll give you a buch of games for free, but maybe they have their own way of tracking purchases?

Nope. If they're on an SD card you can't put them onto a new Wii. I ran into this trouble the other night because I had to get a new wii due to my old one dieing. I saved the data and you can't transfer purchases, nor can you transfer data until you've played the game once.
Hope you contacted Nintendo about it. They usually can help with that.

Remember....she sold the Wii that she made the purchases. So they can't track it with the new one.

Won't work unless the Wii has the memory in the Wii system.

Seriously?

Then what is the point of being able to copy them to a card?

To play them from the SD card.....yes it adds memory...but it's a silly way to prevent Copying the game to give it to a friend.

I know. I was saying maybe they have their own method of tracking. Like if she somehow micraculously still had the used points card and she told them the code and what she bought with it. Maybe then they would believe her and replace the games. Hey, you never know!

Wait, what? Are you absolutely sure on this?

Last time I owned a Wii, that's the exact thing I thought when I bought an SD cart especially for that purpose... Only to be disappointed by the fact I couldn't play them from the card and had to copy them back to the Wii itself.
