Without spoiling anything, this is going to be based solely on the belief you have seen the newest episode. If you haven't yet, go to southpark studios.

Anywho,

WTF!?! Could the end be in sight? Did I miss something?

I'm like 99% sure the series will continue without even mentioning that ending. And I think that will be the joke.

Jesus Christ people they're just changing the dynamic of the show it's not the end of the fucking world and it sure as hell isn't the end of South Park. Even if it is, does it really matter? It's been going for 15 goddamn seasons.

They have a contract for a lot more episodes.
They aren't going to just breach contract, so no. This is not the end.

South Park needed this kind of radical change, and so help me, if they pussy out from it I'm done with it for good. It's been kind of phoning it in for a while (which is a point in the episode actually), and this radical shift really adds a lot. I'm quite interested in seeing more of it, which is something South Park hasn't done for me in years.

It's an interesting cliff hanger and its interesting to see if they will take their original roots and make no mention to the earlier part, or do their current thing and acknoledge the past in all it's confusion.

What could this do to the longer term effects of the show?

Will there be reunions? Will their be step parents? Will Kyle and Cartmen stay friends? These are the fun questions.

Spazzing out over a theory at the end of a very deep episode however is kinda useless.

Most likely the OP wanted to make a "successful" thread and thought this would be the perfect subject for discussion.

Either way, I hope the ending becomes cannon. Like I've said before, South Park is in dire need for change.

Stan is diagnosed with cynicism (he literally sees everything as crap), his parents divorce, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny all hate being around Stan because he is a cynic and Kyle and Cartman become friends.

Probably worth watching it yourself rather than spoiling it here.

As for it being the end of the series; no. It's funny though, I have a friend who is EXACTLY like Stan in this episode. Seriously, guy bums me out.

Non-americans aren't allowed to watch it.

It'd be good if it ended on that note. Would be solid. Showed that that's how the writers feel about the show. Excellent imo.
