What!! it ended who won the space pirates right?

OT: since I can't see into the future I don't know but the gerne has made alot of money so it might come back in a couple of years after this mordern warfare fad dies down or in ten years they are going to be making games based on this time period over and over again intill the make a game based on warfare in that time or something.

I like WWII. I'm a little sad that we're seeing the end of an era. For now at least. Watch, in a couple years everyone will be complaining about all the games set in the modern day. It's just a vicious circle.
well thats true people can never be pleased, no matter what. they always find something to gripe about.

but i dont see how they can make anything new out of it, everything is used other than playing as a Nazi and even EA isnt greedy enough to try that

Checklist:
Dday--done
Bastonge--done
Crossing the Rhine--done
Playing as a spy instead of a soldier---done
playing as a female in WWII---done
Flight Sims---done
Naval battles--done
if there were space battles those would be done too!
What else is there??

Man WW2 was such a world changing event, and came at such an interesting point in time in the history of human technological development (decent guns, but no nukes, so massive armies still the dominant force) that it will be used ad infinitum

i think there will continue to be iterations, but possibly with a unique twist. I'm thinking similar to Toy Soldiers. that game looks fun

As long as there's are Americans there will always be endless WWII re-living to be had. Perhaps it will have seasonal slowdowns but no, it likely will never stop.

To me it's a good and bad thing.
The whole World War 2 deal got boring quick, everything has been done story wise.

But I loved the World War 2 guns, it's the only thing that had me play WWII shootin' games.
Modern guns are pretty much all fully automatic pretty much, that's boooring.

i really hope the trend ends. Like Yahtzee said "the problem with WW2 games is that we already know how its going to end!"

People will probably keep developing games based on WWII until it stops being the only war the Americans were unquestionably and popularly considered to be on the "good" side (and when sides were even recognisable, and there was a clear, uniform-defined line between civilians and the enemy). Which will probably be a long while.
Ouch thats stings man... I mean sure i'll admit we might not be the greatest place in the world but thats one of those touchy subjects that you just leave be, unless you wanna start a flame war with everyones different oppinions.

You can only storm the beaches of Normandy so many times before WWII gets boring. There used to be this sort of feeling of pride in humanity from watching all of the nations come together and bring down the Axis powers in videogame form.. Now it's just bland because we've seen it a bajillion times before.

Probably, until the next new console comes out.
That's exactly what I thought, then they can see what WWII would look like with the latest engine etc.

I'm always holding out for a vietnam war game. Or the middle east.

Or World War 5, so we can have jetpacks and lazers and shields and orbital satellites. And mechs, can't forget the mechs.

Going from WWII to Viet-goddamn-nam, are we just skipping Korea?
Also, whats wrong with WWI? Sure the game would consist of sitting in a ditch for days on end taking pot shots because leaving the ditch would cause you to get shredded, and there would be no clear villain, but still...

If there [i/]are[/i] going to be any more WWII games then at least [i/]one[/i] of them ought to try the RPG path.

Like Operation Darkness.

id personally like a middle east based game, though it would cause too much controversy. besides, there wouldnt even be anybody to shoot at cuz all they do is put mines everywhere and send us videos
