As someone who loves strategy games I have fond memories of playing microprose's (I think) turn based strategy game series X-Com (UFO Defence/Terror from the deep/etc) I know the graphics were crap and it had all the fluidity of flicking a chess piece across a black and white board but the sheer enjoyment of managing my base (research/manufacturing) and having aliens invade MY BASE (those levels would be set out exactly like you built your base) was just FUN! Most modern games are NOT FUN, visually pleasing but not fun, action packed but not fun, detailed and so in-depth you can feel the aneurism on its way but NOT FUN! As a sucker who has just bought a MAC (du du du duh....) I would love to see a revamp of this TYPE of gaming.... anyone else think this would be a good idea?

oh and by the way the new 2012 XCOM is a first person shooter NOT strategy so it doesn't count...

Try playing Total War, it's kind of similer in concept (manage cities, develop tech, create armies, fight battles).

If you're looking for a remake of X-com, try UFO: Extraterrestrials. You can pick it up on steam.

If only the AI weren't so incredibly stupid it spoils the game. Also, turn based strategy has a very different game play to real time. You can be properly strategic!

Mods. There are a lot of mods out for Total Wars games, especially the older ones. A lot of them give the AI a boost.
