Patois is the language of cool.
In London, Patois is seen as a language of criminality and violence. Decades of dealing with the Yardies will do that.
Now, as a non-englishman i have no idea who the Yardies are. Could you explain?

I guess its gang-related, so i kind of understand what your point is. The language of a poor minority that is often involved in criminality/drugs/whatever will of course have a threatening connection.

It's the same with east european/middle eastern languages here.

My best friend is jamaican and we tend to drive around listening to ragga together, i really dig the rhytm of the language. Thats and all the overall jamaican myth has kind of led me to connect patois with good times.
My apologies for the omission. Some information can be found here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yardie. You are correct in assuming the gang connection.

The other thing to remember is that a type of faux-Patois is typically spoken by a certain type of kid here. The kind of kid who was involved in the recent riots in London. This reinforces the link to criminality for us.

I'm sure that people in Jamaica who speak it are fine and wonderful people, but it doesn't really change the perception over here.

I've always imagined German is the language of instruction manuals, and Russian the language of alcohol considering how wonderfully slurred it sounds.
Oh yeah, that was it... Japanese is the language of instruction manuals, while German is the language of instructors in knee-high boots!

Danish is the language of trying to speak but not quite knowing how.

Swedish is the language of meatballs.

Norweigan is the language of meatballs, but not quite.

Russian is the language of alcohol.
Norwegian is the only Scandinavian language that both Swedes and Danes understand. And besides, fuck meatballs.

American is the language of ignorance.
Oh, the irony! The sheer, undiluted, incredible display of irony here!

Even if he did it on purpose, calling an entire country comprised of thousands of cultures, interests, and ideas "ignorant" is in and of itself ignorant.
Yeah, it was on purpose. And it's not directed at the entire country, just the kinds of people who would think American is a language.

I was going to clarify that in white for anyone who quoted me, but I think the post background was changed to slightly off-white, because the text was too easy to see. But whatever.

French is the language of syllables impossible to pronounce while sick.
Seriously.
I have a minor sinus/throat cold, and I dread being called on in French class.

French is also the language of cool muttering.
Anything muttered in French by a French character just sounds cool, as long as that character isn't an offensive stereotype.
"J'ai un stylo rouge." can sound really cool if you say it right.

Actually, Russian is more the language of cussing. The language itself, not how the accent sounds :p

And Latin is the language of [a href=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OminousLatinChanting]Ominous Latin Chanting[/a]

That's why I said that it was the language of meatballs but not quite, because it's not quite Swedish (My language), but we still understand you guys.

And while Danes may understand Norweigan, you have to admit that it's pretty damn hard to understand them.

You got it the wrong way around. It's Swedish that's the language of not-quite fuck meatballs. (All the Scandinavian languages come from the same Norse language branch, the language that's closest to its original form is Icelandic, then Norwegian (Not the "common" Norwegian, spoken primarily in the South-East, Oslo etc., but all the other dialects), and then Swedish and Danish (Swedish and Danish in no particular order).)
