I saw it as some kind of premi?re double-feature thing with Days Of Future Past. A friend of mine is a heavy X-Men fan and asked me if I wanted to tag along.
And oh boy, that was one wild ride of unintentional comedy and awful movie making. Cheap and dreadful CGI and sets (aka everything set in/near Cairo), godawful acting (Jennifer Lawrence, the secret agent girl and pretty much every extra with a line), baffling editing decisions (way too abruptly cutting away at times, even mid-dialogue), terrible writing (the entire bit in the green-laser prison for instance, everything about Magneto), lazy directing (the hell was up with the pacing?), tonality that was all over the place (Apocalypse's slow-mo punching nonsense; suddenly slapstick!) and the list goes on. No, I can't think of any reasonable reason to give this movie a favourable review.
Oh and eh, Wolverine's rampage being awesome? I'd rather call it hilarious. His 'reveal' with that stupid thing on his head, his lazy acting, that ridiculous screaming in that camera, Jean 'helping' him and him bolting off all the while having no real relevance to the plot whatsoever. I laughed so hard.
I suppose that it helped that I'm not at all invested in the X-Men. I reckon it can be somewhat satisfying and fun for X-Men fans. But for me? The only enjoyment was found in the sheer awfulness of it all. The friend I was with was simply sad though, she really wanted better for her beloved franchise.
And I don't even Like MovieBob, not since his "there's no bad tactics, only bad targets" views became clear. But he's definitely right in this review; from a technical standpoint this movie is an absolute mess.

He doesn't get into it in a negative way. He simply mentions that he liked the allusions to the plights of gay/minority youth in X-Men. Something X-Men has done for ages now. But you know how well liking that sort of thing goes over here on The Escapist.inu-kun said:Holy shit, how can he even get to leftist propoganda (in a negative way) in an X-Men movie?
