Why does every house in City 17 at the beggining have a lock on it EXCEPT the ONE you can go in? That doesn't feel right to me.
That logic's a little... Maybe the reason you WENT in the HOUSE at all is BECAUSE it didn't have A lock ON it?

x434343, you just don't get it do you? It is all about story, design and pacing. Something most consoletards (thank you Yagtzee) just don't understand. If you want a mindless shooter, play Halo, if you want perfection, play Half Life. 10/10.

Everybody has their opinion, but it's pretty clear to me that you were expecting something that was never the purpose of the games. Portal too easy? Team Fortress 2 not having single player? Half Life 2 too linear? You're clearly blaming apples for not being bananas.

Did I say Portal was too easy? Did I say that no single-player made Team Fortress 2 crap?

Regarding my "Half-Life 2 replay +improve review" deal I've been promising, I got to Odessa, and so far it's taken about a half-a-point away from linearity. So, it has 8.5 of 10. That's slightly better. If you don't like the slight improvement, too bad. Improvement's improvement.

I admit, I misread your Portal bit, and thought you meant it was too simple. I was wrong on that one. But...

Nice concept, but. there's always a But. No single player. How about sone challenges with each class in a single player game? Or a single player training mode. All in all, 7.5/10

-ahem-

Does it say somethuing like "No singleplayer makes this total crap!"

No. It says that some singleplayer challenges or training mode would've been a good addition.

And you praised the game all the way up until this point, and gave it a final score of 7.5. You had no further criticisms for it. Let's say that it could potentially have received a 9 or 9.5, you have docked 1.5 to 2 points for not having the single player.

Well, no. I've docked the points because of the fact that the internet's full of dicks, there's no way to get rid of them, and because it's a pure multiplayer game, about half of the servers I go in are full of dicks.

Did I miss something? When did it become the games fault that the people you play with are dicks? Last time I looked, the game makers did not send copys to every tool-bag in he world and say "make sure when you play this game you're a real ass!".

Aside from that, the only criticisim you say you have of TF2 is lack of single player, which hardly seems to constitute a 2 point drop in score. I'm not saying you have to like it, but at least have a real reason for why you take away points. Hell, even just saying that it rubbed you wrong way for reasons unknown to you would be a more legit reason for a lower score.

A. why is this not in the game forum?

B. use a walkthrough

C. Not really appropriate in a review section.

@qbert4ever: That is probably more of the case, now that I think of It. I can never play it for more than 2 hours before becoming bored and playing something else.

Umm, shoot...your...gun...at...them? That's how I beat it anyways, the only other thing I can suggest is to turn down the difficulty level (can you do that on HL2? It's been a while and I don't remember).

If you need better advice then that, I'm not sure you should be playing FPS's anyways. How about a nice fighting or adventure game?

maybe you should learn what the fuck a gunship is. "shoot your gun at them, that's how i beat them"
brilliant
i don't even care if i get banned at this point, that is the stupidest shit i've ever heard. i don't know more for telling me to shoot a "gunship" with my "gun" or recommending a total different genre to me all together. again... brilliant

Wait, your complaining that a MULTIPLAYER game has no single player, give it some damn points back! You can't rate The Sims down for not being Mario Kart, and you can't rate an MP game down for having no SP, the wole point is to focus on the MP aspect.

Okay, so right about now, I can really put my finger on what you need to work on for your next review. Your points have been revealed to be incredibly under-developed. The tell-tale sign is that a good review should not require a Q&A session in order to figure out where you're coming from. That was supposed to be the primary purpose of writing a review in the first place.

Yes, saying that it gets boring after a while, though half-baked when left just at that, is still more valid than penalizing it for no single-player, and far far more valid than saying it loses points because the people that play it are jerks.

I'm not much of a fan of multi-player online gaming, but I've always wanted to try Team Fortress 2, because it seems like it might be different, and might appeal to me. I want to read a review of TF2 and be able to figure out if the game is something I'd find worth the $20 to buy it. Your review, unfortunately, left me with far more questions than answers.
