So... this is a little stupid.
Just saying.
If you're going to copy Minecraft, at least try to hide it a bit.

What a shameless ripoff. I mean, for Xbox users it's cool and all, they're finally be joining the joy that Minecraft is, but even if I still had a 360, I wouldn't buy it, because I already have the good and original game.

For starters, the graphics, although a bit more "advanced", looks really ugly for me, then there's the controls, they will simply suck, and there's the multiplayer, who would want to see your boring avatar running around and greifing the other people's work when you can see a puking naked zombie running around?.

And it will lack 1 main thing and I think it wouldn't simply be Minecraft without it.
Creepers.

I'm definitely going to get the game. I own Minecraft, but my computer isn't the best. It's cheap, and seems to be a fair amount of fun. Can't wait to see the changes he makes, and there will be changes.

You know what is one thing I really don't seem to understand about people and this game?

Why a lot of them seem to hate the graphics so much. I mean, really, it's a bunch of freakin' blocks. Yes, I know having nice graphics and stuff is a plus that means you put a lot of effort into the game or something like that, but really, are they that necessary?

Do they take away from the experience? Can you still identify what is what? Can you still, you know, play the game?

It just bothers me that people care too much about them. I know some of the best games ever that still looked like shit. :/

I believe the Minecraft creator, I believe, stated that if someone was going to make their own version of Minecraft for different platforms to do it but also encouraged them to try to do something different to it.

A resounding meh. If that's not true, creators own fault for not protecting his own work.

OH GOD YES! My computer couldn't handle gaming, and I got an xbox 360 just for Mass Effect. I was just thinking about how much I loved Minecraft but I couldn't play it! It may be a shameless ripoff but thank you from all us system gamers.

Agh, it's minecraft reskinned, but with a different name. They stole it. I don't care if they call it different, they deserve to be sued back to the stone age.

That, or they give credit to the creator of Minecraft.

Adding a touch of the Microsoft evil, XBOX Douchiness, and Tom Goldman "pretend this badness is good!" flavor to the Minecraft world to make it slimey and nasty!
hey, it's basically a more polished version of the game for a dollar.

can anyone say "Good deal"?

if i can get basically the same game for cheaper, then why the fuck not? don't be pissed just because an indie developer is making your precious "PC exclusive" consolized

plus, you won't have to pay monthly for it once Minecraft actually gets finished. so.... why not buy this?

a pirated game is basically a more userfriendly version (no drm) of a game for free.
can you say "good deal"?
and the indie developer is developing it for different platforms as we speak. please open google before saying things like that.
aaaaaaand how many average joes know how to properly pirate games?

i mean, i know how and i know a few people who know how, but the average joe or jane isn't going to do that because all they've heard about it is "viruses" and "illegal"

so again, this is just all-around a better deal, and if you pirate Minecraft, you'd have to learn a whole HOST of new things just to get it to run properly (learning how to get on a private server, learning OF private servers, learning how to mount images, learning the right sites to pirate from... etc etc.)

i don't care if all those things are "easily googled", the average individual would rather just see the price of Minecraft, then look at the price of FortressCraft, and just buy FortressCraft.
even my old uncle knows how to download movies illegally. the average joe and jane that have access to the internet these days know quite a lot about those things, i wasn't really talking about minecraft in general. i also thought all servers were private servers, since none of them are owned by mojang.

this is a similar situation like the lugaru hd and lugaru on the apple store. only difference is they used a skin pack (and yes, probably converted the java to c++ or whatever xbox uses) on an older version of minecraft, instead of just ripping the entire game as is.
your uncle is an obvious and rare exception. most of the people i talk to don't know anything of pirating (only a select few) and the average consumer (based on sales figures alone) obviously doesn't know or else games wouldn't sell more than 100,000 copies wouldn't they?

but honestly, the ability to be able to play this game without needing a credit card or worrying about having to pay for a monthly subscription (c'mon. obviously when minecraft is done they're going to put a monthly subscription on it.) or needing a credit card.

Honestly, as fun as this looks, it won't have half the actual functionality of Minecraft. It looks prettier and will have some other functions, but Minecraft is, essentially, just one big mod, and once it leaves beta stage that's what it's going to be used as. Unfortunately, due to my ridiculously horrible computer that can't play Minecraft, I'll have to settle for FortressCraft. Though, it may not be so bad considering most of my friends don't have gaming PC's either so we caqn all get together on Xbox.

Can I just say, the HD graphics look ugly, and while Minecraft on the 360 sounds fairly cool, I can't help but think that the controls would be poorly suited to the game.
I've got to agree it looks really weird with the highdefinition textures on the low poly blocks, and the pick axe just looks wrong. Might be good but Im gonna stay with minecraft, I have a feeling fighting creepers would be a ***** with a controller.

God the responses are hilarious. By this logic only one company should be allowed to make FPSes.
Actually, that doesn't sound such a bad idea. Then we might see fewer goddamn FPSes and a bit more originality in the gaming scene as a whole.

You know its odd. Minecraft in many ways would have been considered a step backwards in games not that many years ago and now its the hot new trendy thing. Games have an odd sense of fads but If the Minecraft fad replaces the FPS fad I'd be good with it.

Honestly, this is the most disappointed I've been with the industry in a long time. I'd be fine if they made a Minecraft-ish game, like with the same style and different objectives, or vice versa, but this takes shameless to a new level. Might as well of called it "Minecraft HD".

Can anyone say breach of copyright?
Can you copyright things people do in the real world? It's not like he invented blocks or block based gaming and, like the article said, Infiniminer inspired minecraft.
Its a breach of intellectual property as far as I'm concerned, basically Microsoft being "Hey we have more resources and man power than Notch, lets try kill Minecraft!". Theres a fine line between homage and just plain ripping it off...
