XBL should I get it?

I definitely say if you have COD4, GRAW2 or any other multiplayer FPS, you have to have XBL.

Otherwise ... it seems pointless to have those games. I for one still play Chromehounds, so I still have XBL.

Don't do it. Just play your multiplayer games on PS3/PC where it is free. Halo 3/Gears 2 aren't any better than Resistance 2/CoD4. L4D is pretty awesome(also on PC, but I don't know if you have a gaming rig), but that means you'd be paying 110 bucks(game + subscription) for one experience. Fable 2 has multiplayer, but that game is better singleplayer anyways.

About the only games I play online.

I honestly prefer PSN since you get to play online for free, but yeah, XBL is definitely worth the cash. You get access to the marketplace, playing online, and other privileges. Also, you can play with the Escapist Clan! *thumbs up* Also when you join, you get a month of Live Gold free! *double thumbs up*

Just watch out when you're playing online for screechy pubescent little cunts, they can be reaaaal annoying. but if you only want access to marketplace, get a silver, which is free.

My first reaction was no, but then I don't play online an awful lot.
I suggest sigining up for silver live, Microsoft will automatically upgrade you to 1 month free trail for the gold membership. Then you get a month to figure out if it's worth paying for. Easy.

I would guess you don't like the xbox?

I own both an xbox and an xbox 360, and in every (non online) aspect I consider it superior to its competition (partially because I look at hardware, and the xbox 360 actually has some better hardware than the ps3). However, as I'm Australian xbox live is absoloute shit. The fact that it costs doesn't do much for me either, if I have to pay a subscription I would expect it to be of a standard above that set by (free) computer game servers, and it simply doesn't come close. I don't think I've played a single game without being hit by severe lag (I often get free xbox live time when I buy games, so I have been on it sparodicially over the past year).
