my original 360 lasted a couple of years until GTAIV killed it 
It was repaired, for free, within 10 days, but then died again a week later. Repaired again, for free, and is still kicking along. I don't have it anymore, when it died the 2nd time I decided I couldn't do without it for another 10 days, so I went out and bought an Elite and gave my old one to a mate. (ok, I could have just bought an Arcade console, swapped out my old hard drive and saved like $500, but I really, really wanted that beautiful, black 360 Elite... Mmmmmm black
