Xbox 360 Disc Tray Problem

Recently my 360 decided that it wouldn't read any of my discs. So far I've narrowed the problem to be the laser that reads the discs. My warranty has expired and instead of paying $100 dollars for repairs, I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and found a way to fix it. Thanks in advance to those who respond.

Take a small can of compressed air and use that to shine up the lens.

there are several youtube videos about how to fix it, but apart from the knocking trick (which didn't work even once for me in that situation), they all involve opening the system, which needs some specific (but not unique to microsoft) screw drivers.

The issue is probably not a dirty laser, but rather one that has come off its track or is slightly misaligned.

This happened to my wii. I took to a unofficial repair guy and he said it was screwed. Got rid of it and bought a 360.
