I am considering getting Kinect for my 360, and was wondering if anyone would be willing, to give me their opinion on whether to buy it or not. Are there any good games out or coming soon? (I have researched them but not extensively) rise of nightmares looked good but not worth the kinects price. So if anyone could give me an informed opinion or just some advice I would be very grateful. :)

Well, I've enjoyed the Kinect Sports games quite a bit, and Kinect Adventures has it's moments. And just going by the demo, the Kinect functionality in Mass Effect 3 is really good, which I assume you'll be getting judging by your avatar.

If you like the idea of waggling your arms like a kid with ADS on a sugar high to pet a virtual tiger, Kinect is a must buy.

If not, its fucking useless. You can give voice commands in a few games, but who the fuck wants to do that. If you just want to play some party games with friends, get a Wii, its cheaper and comes with one or two exclusives like Zelda or Mario, which is better than Kinectables or whatever that stupid game is called.
I couldn't disagree more. Though your ranting screams fanboy, I won't judge you... yet.

For me, I am honestly not sure. The games are great, but after playing them and beating them in a few days you probably won't go back to them. I loved the kinect in Halo and ME3 is promising and fun to use. If I were you, take the chance on it. Oh, and the bing search function is hilarious.

Unfortunately, no, there really isn't (unless mini game compilation #2944 is up your alley).

I bought my Kinect for the purpose of exercise helper (UFC Ultimate Trainer). For an exercise helper, it's awesome. For a gaming machine...not so much.

The only game I've played for it that is game-like AND fun was Dance Central. Even that isn't really a game in the traditional sense.

The Kinect has a ton of potential but in it's current state, I really find it useless for gaming. Could that change? Absolutely but for now, the games that are for it are either not very good (Rise of Darkness), weird experimental games (Child of Eden), or games that are great if you're young (Disney Adventures and Kinectimals)

See? That's the only reason I would buy it.

If you like dancing, there's probably some of that too.

Have you checked the space requirements? I mean it's all well and good to know if there are any games you want, but a bit pointless if you can't play them...

Depends on what you want it for. I play Kinect whenever I start feeling a bit unfit. Sure beats going to the gym. As for games, I have a blast with Dance Central. Haven't played the sequel yet though.

I would consider myself a hardcore gamer, and have never had any urge to get a Kinect/Wii motion sensing device at all.

However, my girlfriend recently talked me into buying a Kinect, and although the games aren't amazing, it is fun when you've got people round for the evening. If you've got a good dance or sports game then it's great fun to play with your friends.

I don't ever find myself playing on my own, but for a night in with mates it is much better than I thought.

Essentially, just keep an eye on it. There is a lot of potential with these things that just need to be exploited by a game maker.

Mass Effect 3 (March) has some Kinect side stuff (like yelling orders to your comrades and using it to change your ammo type).

Kinect Star Wars (April) looks kind of bad but if they can fix the iffies in it, that might be the game that makes the Kinect worth getting.

Fable: The Journey (TBA) is like Kinect Star Wars; there are some clear issues but if the developer can figure out how to fix it, might be worth a shot.

As a side note, if you have a lot of friends/parties, Dance Central is a huge hit. HOWEVER, make sure you have the room for it. At a party atmosphere, you'll need a good sized living room (about...7 feet wide and 9 feet back is my recommendation) to fit two people on screen at the same time while having enough room for others to not get in the way.

I wouldnt bother, any game that has Kinect support e.g Mass effect 3 or Halo Anniversary doesnt need it, and any command is just easier by just pressing a button. Apart from the few Kinect exclusive features (e.g Halo Anniversary Library mode), and the HD Wii games its not really worth the price, its just cheaper to get a Wii if you're into those kind of games.

I don't think it's worth it for the space requirement alone. It's more accurate than what you get on The Wii from what I've heard, but it's not really worth the cost of getting it. I'm sure it can be fun for a while, but just like boxing on The Wii got old a Kinect will too. The Wii at least got the advantage of having some exclusives that are great. By that I mean Xenoblade which is awesome.

For "hardcore" gaming it is far from necessary. Still, it has become a big hit with my wife and other "non gaming" friends thanks to games like Just Dance 3 and Dance Central 2. When it first came out at $150 it was definitely NOT worth the investment, but I'd recommend it for $100 with some free games if you want to bring in other people into gaming (I've seen it at that price at places like Costco and I got mine refurbished for about $80 online.)

I have played exactly one game on it: Fruit Ninja and it was insane kinds of crack and a really good work out. I have been considering getting a kinect myself for a little while, but interest and disposable income have never really lined up at just the right time. Also, if you regularly have parties, it seems like a good idea like a Rock Band set.
Man, now I want to just go have a Rock Band party again.

Got a Kinect bundle for cheap during the holidays. I never felt incredibly compelled to play it, but I heard good things about Dance Central, and I loved DDR so I figured "Why not?".
I've played Fruit Ninja Kinect, which is a fun distraction to play with friends for about 15 minutes at a time. The Gunstringer has a lot of personality and charm, and the gameplay is decent, but it's largely forgettable. It's probably the best on-rails shooter I've played (besides Typing of the Dead).

But what has made Kinect more than worth the price of admission for me is Dance Central 2. I've already put in over 10 hours of dancing, and I'm surprised with my progress and lasting enjoyment of it. While it's probably not true to call it actual dancing, the routines are by far the closest video games have ever come to legit, full-body dance moves. The variety of moves fit the songs well, and I can consistently have a good time while achieving a rare (for me) full-body glistening sweat and cardio workout. I literally have to take a shower after hour-long marathon sessions because every part of me is moist and rather smelly. Feels good, man.
By the time I tire of this game, I'll have put dozens of hours of play into it. It's improved my body image significantly, plus it's just fun trying to beat your high scores. I actually went out and (ordered online) the first Dance Central just so I could import the routines for use in DC2's multiplayer.

"No" to both title questions.

However, for young children or non-gamers, it's a fine purchase. Just don't expect the gamer in your life to jump for joy when you purchase one.

I've honestly been disappointed by most of the titles. A lot of them are a blast the first time you play, and lose their luster quickly: Yoostar, Fruit Ninja, Kinect Adventures...

But all that changes when you have a few friends over to play. I agree that Dance Central is a blast, and I get a kick out of Kinect sports when I play with my parents or my nephews and nieces. It's really a party game accessory, and probably won't enhance your gaming experience any for most titles. I will say though, that I've found it to be quite helpful in Forza 4, and I am interested in seeing how it works with Mass Effect.

I would say overall that I'm satisfied with my purchase because of Forza, and for family get togethers. But I was let down by the terrible selection of games for it.
