Hell, make an old fashioned pro/con chart for each one if you need to.
If you want more advice, I'm not sure you're going to find it.
All you're going to get here is a bunch of opinions, based off of personal experiences, which will probably not have much impact on your decision.

please be careful with threads like these, although it does seem like your intentions are good, topics like this can quickly become timber for flame wars.
OT, from personal experience I'd get the PS3 - it has a fine collection of games, and has a lot of things bundled with the system including blu-ray, free online, etc.

Depends if you have a big ass TV or not. The PS3 undeniably has that Blu-Ray drive, but as far as gaming etcetera goes I'd say get an Xbox 360 + Live.
Nothing so much wrong with either console, but because of my undying hatred of Sony I've always been partial to the 360.

Do you want to run Linux on your console? Get a Phat PS3, as the Slims can't install/run Linux, and you have to hack the 360 pretty extensively to get Linux on it. Just FYI.

Oh goody: I was worried that we wouldn't fulfill our weekly quota of "Which should I choose?" platform threads.
At this point, it's a toss-up. Look at the games on each. Whichever ones you feel closest to, go for that platform. Simple as that.

I want a PS3 so I can play games such as Flower, Demon's Souls and Last Guardian.
I have a 360, it's all right. I like Dead Rising. People often say that the mutliplatform games are slightly better on the 360 if that bothers you. You have to pay for multi player that isn't all that great if online gaming is your thing.

Regardless of what anyone else in this thread says, 360's and PS3's break down just as often as eachother, so don't listen to the people who say "Don't get a 360, it'll red ring" and don't listen to the people who say "Don't get a PS3, it'll set on fire"Vandineo said:

The 360 has a larger back catalogue of games and (In my humble opinion) better exclusives.
PS3 has Resistance, which is meant to be good. Uncharted 1 and 2 which are both excellent games. God of War (which isn't my cup of tea) Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank and Gran Tourismo.
If I had to decide for you, I would say the 360. But I will probably get flamed to high heaven and some Sony fan boys will start yelling at me.

I would say, if you´re in it only for the gaming experience, then my choice would be the Xbox. I prefer the xbox controller, and I think that the Gears of War games were the best games in the last decade.
If you want a multimedia machine, you should probably get the PS3 though, as others have mentioned, this one has the BD...Also, I hear that Uncharted 2 is pretty good.
And seeing as the prices has dropped the only real con (apart from personal taste) is the flimsy excuse for a controller that comes with it.

I have both a 360 and a ps3. I personally prefer the 360. Yes the ps3 has the blue ray player, iplayer and a web browser,but the 360 is much more fun for gaming. The games feel like they run smoother to me, i prefer the xbox live community and think it has better exclusives. Although i do enjoy an occaisional play on resistance 2.
But yeah, the 360 has given me a lot more fun so i personally would reccomend that.

It just doesnt feel right in my hands. the 360 one is far more comfortable. It was more ergonomically designed (ive been waiting to say that word for weeks XD)
