*literally laughing out loud*

Well done sir. I applaud heavily.

OP: Most of Sartre's work is commercially based, so he is using strains of Nietzsche's work and Campbell's mythos to give a story to the metaphysics involved. Therefore he's using a example structure to hang the idea of the destructive nature of structures inherent in the human existence. It's less of a contradiction than a proof by example.

This is what I tell Mac users lol.

I don't really think of myself as a fanboy though. everyone is entitled to their choices.

Look, my mom said I could only get a PS3 or X-Box 360, and she then got it for me and it was an X-Box. So on that, I based my rabid fanboyism on that. Enjoyed you hacked network.

this was a joke, I think they are both fine systems, please don't take me seriously

On a serious note, it's possible that Sartre refers to such concepts of "bad faith" and "self-deception" not in the social interpersonal level that he denies, but on an intra-personal level, of self-morality and self-truth.

I can see the OP took a smartass and a dickwad pill this morning. I'm not sure that's a healthy combination; make sure you don't go out in public anytime soon.

Are you calling Xbox fanboys dumb or are you calling them pretentious twats? Because those people populate everything. Stop insulting me for my choice.

As for Nietzsche and Sartre - not knowing who they are does not make me stupid, it makes me ignorant of the subject.

I fucking hate all this elitism.
I think he is mostly taking the piss out of these "Tell me this, (blank) fanboys" threads with a subtle seasoning of elitism. If you find it offense, its probably because your mother doesn't approve of your hobby.

I have no idea what you just said, but it appears that you have some hard feelings towards the 360 and like to whine about it.

All this pointless fanboy banter makes me wish i could be a PC gamer.

If only i had the money, so then i can be on the moral high ground while you fanboys tear each other to shreds.

Either your a troll, the date is wrong, or their's something seriously wrong here.

He's not being pretentious, insulting or elitist. It's a form of comedy called a 'non sequitur'. the humour comes from the juxtaposition of a provocative title and a completely unrelated subject.
That's comedy? don't quit your day job!

Sartre's major works on existentialism, 'Being and Nothingness' and 'Existentialism and Humanism' seem to borrow heavily from Nietzsche's early work on metaphysics and also his later work on ethics (most famously Thus Spake Zarathrusta, and Beyond Good and Evil).

And Sartre himself declares, like Nietszche, a nihilist position on morality.

So tell me, Xbox fanboys, why does Jean Paul Sartre REPEATEDLY use the concept of 'bad faith' and self-deception as though they were moral concepts. He certainly isn't using them in a purely descriptive sense (where acting 'in bad faith' would just be a neutral description and wouldn't matter one way or the other). Why does he contradict both Nietzsche's and his own claims on morality, sometimes in the very same works?

Tell me Xbox fanboys, please, tell me.
Because he was pissed at all the n00b tubes in Black Ops.

It's not elitism, it's low-grade trolling. Attracting people to the thread with a title that makes them rage a little, then following it up with a question that has nothing to do with the enraged masses it attracts. I found it funny.

Anyway, I fear I don't know enough about Nihilistic philosophies to be able to contribute meaningfully to this discussion, sorry. I shall read up and return.
