I had my PS3 YLOD on me; went to play a Blu-Ray and as I was going to pop it in it kicked the bucket. Found a dude in my city on kijiji who repaired it for $50; bought a slim and transferred over all my saves.

Also my Wii GPU is fucked up; got damaged from a Wii Connect heating issue with the launch units; I get green and red pixels all over the screen when I play games. It's still playable, just annoying.

I think my favorite console death I've ever experienced was my friends. He had just gotten an xbox 360, his first gaming console, and being a 15 year old, this was kind of a big deal. We had the games, the controllers we were ready to rock, all we had to do was plug it in. Then BAM red rings of death. That's right, a brand new xbox 360, just out of the package, was already broken.

So my xbox is done in. The worst part about it is that it was the shitty 4GB model, which I never wanted to get but that's what happens when your mum buys your console. I was young, and stupid, and should have forked out for the 250GB. For those who don't know the 250GB version has a hard drive you can take out, but the shitty 4GB one uses a flash drive that's built in. So my XCOM, Red Dead Redemption, Saints Row 1 2 and 3, GTA4, Fallout 3, Fable 2 and 3, Prototype 1, Mass Effect 1 2 and 3 and Assassins Creed 1 2 3 Brotherhood and Revelations saves are all gone. Dead, buried and there ain't fuck all I can do about it. The worst part, I mean more worse than what I said before, is that I keep remembering save games that I lost so I can't move on and just forget.
Eh, I would be very surprised if you couldn't get some outlet to transfer your save file data dude.
You mean like a device or a person to do it, cos I have a wire transfer but the xbox needs to be on and the memory drive thing is internal and cannot be taken out.

My Wii was the only close call I had with problems. A little metal bit on the inside of the console was making it harder for the disc drive to turn, which cause overheating and a ridiculously loud little white box, which would eventually end with the disc just failing after and hour or so. Luckily, I opened it up, and used the best thing to ever use when messing around with consoles and knowing nothing about them: paper. Just folded up a little piece of paper which moved the metal thingy up, and now the Wii is quiet and cool to the touch.
