I'm on the phone right now cancelling my xbox live account and I just have to say what a pain they made it to cancel. It's very easy to sign up, you can do it on your xbox but to cancel? Well, you can't even do it online. You can do pretty much everything else under the sun online but to cancel you actually have to call them during bussiness hours Monday to Friday.

I know why they did that, to make it hard for people to cancel so they keep paying out of laziness but I just wanted to say how much it annoys the hell out of me that this is just another money grabbing tactic they employ. How about making a decent machine that doesn't red ring of death me every few months, or coming up with decent games that I actually want to buy instead of resorting to these kind of tactics.

Bah!

Or you don't do Auto-renewal and you buy the cards at the store. Then, it doesn't matter.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying, but they're hardly the only company that does stuff like this. Welcome to capitalism, where no one gives a fuck about anything except getting more money for numero uno.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need an Xbox LIVE account to play ANY game on the X360, single player or not? I was under the impression that the X360 is basically a brick unless you have an XBL account.

No paid account is for multiplayer only. You can still get updates, demos and such at no charge.

That's a real sad story OP. Would you like some cheese with that whine? OMG, you have to call DURING business hours!!! Who would be so selfish as to conduct business DURING BUSINESS HOURS!!!!!

And if you wanted to start an "xbox is stinky" thread, you should have gone to gaming discussion. 360's don't even red ring anymore.

There isn't even any discussion value here. lrn2makethreads.
They got rid of the rings and made it the red light of death. Wooot.

ALso for people who work during business hours.... you know.... like a job.

My job lets me use the phone. You should probably get a new job. That way you could afford more PS3 games for your PS3.
Can I be your friend? You're a pretty cool guy, guy.

Hmmmmmmmm, so you have to call and cancel. Sounds tough dude. I know phones are hard to use. Also, maybe it is just me and my friends but we have not had to deal with fun games not existing on xbox.

Wait, cancel your account as in delete it or cancel your account as in you no longer pay for it? Because you can choose not to renew it every month, or you can just use a time card and not use another one when you don't think you'll be online for a bit. They don't make it easy to delete an account through your xbox, if that's what you mean, because it would suck to be hacked and then lose everything for it...If they have to call in, there's more security measures in place, especially if you must jump through hoops.

I would troll until they banned me.

Pretty much that is the best way to get your subscription turned off without having to make a phone call.

Put some sort of swastika or other nazi symbolism in your profile and run around games and forums dropping n bombs and calling mods/admins all sorts of profane nonsense. They'll gladly turn the service off for you.

Edit: also team killing, spawn camping, minor hacking, whatever else you can pull off without getting a civil suit filed against you. The worse it gets the faster they'll turn it off.

Really? They took away the "turn auto-renew off" option from their online site again? Boo! They had it on there for a while, but I just looked and it's gone again. Not cool at all.
