Xbox Live problems

My Xbox isn't working, basically. I try and sign into my account which has Xbox live enabled, and it simply doesn't sign in to Xbox Live, saying "A problem occured while signing in." Without giving any specifics.
The fuck?
Anyone know what the hell this means?

I got the whole "Connection has timed out" bullshit on ME2's DLC, so I said fuck it and threw the game into a cupboard and decided not to buy the next one. If they want my money, they had better work.

Most likley its the yearly maintenance and updates they do, Its often done at around this time.

My Advice: Either go out for the day with friends, Find an old console, or Masturbate.

just try turn router/modem on and off and the xbox. It usually works after that. Im on strict nat btw so it always happens

I have the same problem going on as well. My guess is that something is down on there end, someone spilt Mountain Dew on the server or something so we'll just have to wait it out until they fix it. It probably isn't server maintenance as a message is sent out days in advance that Live is going down and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I'm in Australia if that matters at all.

EDIT: It seems that some friends of mine are playing with no problems. This is kind of strange now.

EDIT: Just turned off the modem and then turned it back on. Works perfectly. Magic I assume.

for the past few days it has been saying that accounts may occur problems ( like temp. loss of download history) due to maintenance. I assume it has something to do with this.

I called support. Xbox live is down for a couple of hours. This is normal.

I keep on losing my connection. I will sign in and then I get randpmally discounted every 15 mins or so. Microsoft is prolly just adding more servers so when Halo Reach comes out they are prepared.

NOW EVERYONE LISTEN TO THE MASTER
Just go to network settings, test xbox live connection, it will probably send you to a screen saying to turn of your modem, then turn it back on again. Do it.
I did it, and it works fine now.

Either your internet is off, xbox live is going under maintinance. Or something else

I rebooted my router and it worked, the weird thing was that my xbox was connected to the internet, completely fine. The problem, it said, was with xbox live, which is kinda unusual
