I enter my card details once and add funds as and when I like. Seems straightforward enough to me.
That almost sounds like Xbox Live Marketplace. Except you have extraneous market steps to deal with, and still have a minimum funds issue.

That's weird, I think I read somewhere that it was too easy to spend money in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Damn it, who do I believe?

By the way, it's your bloody fault for being too lazy to get MS Points from a retailer, even an online one.

It's not a matter of laziness, though, is it. It's a matter of their online service not catering to everyone. I have a bank card that works on every other major online retailer so if I want to buy direct download games why should I have to go to a store to facilitate that when the entire idea of the system is to remove that middleman.

If I want to buy a hard copy game, I'll go out and buy it. When I want games that exist exclusively online, I shouldn't have to leave the house.

Get a better card is all i can say. I dont have a credit card either, but it excepts my debit no problem :)

What annoys me is how the points you buy go up in 500's. But the games go up in 400's. So you ALWAYS have to buy more than you want to -_-
I really should, my bank is utter rubbish anyway, but I have all my accounts there and it seems insane to go to a different bank and set up a new account that will never have money in it just so I can shop on Xbox Marketplace.

And yeah the points thing is really really weird, then again PSN only lets you fund a minimum of a fiver at a time and hardly anything is rounded up in fives and tens.

That's all you need to do for XBL. Paypal is easy as sin, and I don't know what sort of card you're using, but mine isn't a credit card and works fine.

I find I have more problems with PSN, it's like a perpetual argument where I can only assume I got a brief respite if it let me buy the game.
That may be true but if it won't let me use my card then the whole system is pretty much useless to me, and I'm using a card by a major UK bank. To be fair though, there have been two other places that won't accept my card: trains and a website that doesn't exist anymore.

My problem with Paypal stemmed more from the fact that because I haven't used it in years (because every other site accepts my card) I couldn't even remember what e-mail address I used to sign up and by the time I did it told me I'd have to wait 3-5 days to move funds into my Paypal account from my bank.

I don't understand the problems people have with PSN, I literally just put my card details in once and then top up my wallet whenever I want to buy something and it works every time. Maybe it really is just a case of better the devil you know.

I've been involved in a 7 month battle with MS to get them to let me have the points I bought. You have no idea how much more difficult they can make payments.

Make it more difficult you say?

STEP 1. Aquire a monkey. This monkey must have at least a brown belt in Taekwondo.

STEP 2. Send your monkey in a box to Microsoft HQ. Make sure you pack enough water and food. If the monkey defecates during the trip you have to start over.

STEP 3. A person in the post office will recognize the special MonkeyBox (Only 199,99!), and send for the MonkeyBox opener. If your monkey doesn't manage to take Mr. Opener out cold, start over from step 1.

STEP 4. You will now recieve a letter from Microsoft (it will be labeled Monkeysoft, don't get confused) stating that your monkey has arrived (remember the code you get in the mail as well) and that you can proceed to phase 2.

STEP 5. Now you must aquire an elephant. This elephant may not exceed the height limit of 50 centimeters.

STEP 6. Using the ElephantBox you so generously got for free with your Monkeysoft letter, send the elephant. Make sure it only has 4 bags of peanuts with it. Around 20 kilograms each.

STEP 7. Again, someone at the post office will recognize the ElephantBox and send for the ElephantBox opener. Your Elephant must, at this point, only have one peanut left, and it must shoot it right between the Openers eyes[footnote]. Otherwise, restart from step 1.

STEP 8. You will recieve yet another letter from Microsoft stating the arrival of the elephant (Remember this code as well).

STEP 9. Now you must go to Russia (if you already are in Russia, you must go to Hong Kong). In Russia, you must go to the circus and steal one of the bears unicycles.
You must ride this home, while filming it all. The video may be no longer than 3 days.

STEP 10. Put the entire journey up on YouTube.

STEP 11. Email Microsoft, embedding the link to the YouTube video along with the two secret codes and the information of the credit card you wish to use (Visa and Master Card isn't usable).

STEP 12. Wait for 14 days.

STEP 13. Enjoy your Microsoft points.

Get back to me when you want to comfirm your purchase, because holy hell that's even more complicated.
I must know how to confirm!

OT: steam all the way

Debit card.

Regardless, the only difference between PSN and XBL is the points system. It's not like Sony are nice and accommodating where you can buy an $8 game and actually only take $8 out of your account, no no no, you still need to make a $10 transaction onto your PSN account. Then when you go to buy another $8 game but only have $2, you need ANOTHER $10 transaction.
