Jack Tretton, CEO of SCEA:
"That is the dumbest rumor I've ever heard."

That's not the problem though. From what I read, let's say you have GTA5, and you lend it to a friend who doesn't have it. He downloads the same game with the same code because he was borrowing your game. Within a period of 24 hours, your game is automatically deleted because it is now on your friends account! And that, is terrible!Friggnchickn said:Giving us the option of deleting the game would make sense. I wouldn't want Aliens: Colonial marines to hang around on my HDD
If they automatically delete the save data then I would be pissed.
...Mr.Mattress said:Oh gosh, from what I just read, it sounds like there can be no such thing as a Used Game on the Xbox at all! Each Blu-Ray disc for an Xbox One game is embedded with an encryption code that?s read by the console. Xbox One installs a game, code-and-console information uploads to a Microsoft database, and the database checks in automatically from time to time to confirm that the game hasn?t exchanged hands.
When it does ? when a disk being installed is ?used? ? the game simply deauthenticates itself on the original owner?s console and conforms it to its new home.
It destroys the original game on the original account if the game and it's code are present on a different account entirely! No one's going to destroy their own game, unless they really don't like it. This isn't as bad as charging a person, but this is still pretty bad!
While this would kill lending games between friends, it in no way changes how used games are handled in retail outlets currently. When you sell a game back to a shop, do you really expect that you'd still be able to play it on your system? Would you even still have it installed on your hardware? Because I'm under the impression that if someone wants to trade in a game, they're probably done with it.When it does ? when a disk being installed is ?used? ? the game simply deauthenticates itself on the original owner?s console and conforms it to its new home.
