If MS/Azure are taking a cut of the pre-owned market that means you simply can't give the game to a friend...because how will MS get their cut.

All they are saying is if you buy the inflated priced pre-owned game from a gamestop etc you will not pay again when you go home.
It makes no difference...they are still controlling the pre-owned market.

Or like Sony said "no, we didn't even consider blocking used games"
Sony said they didn't even consider 'Always online'. The word is still out on their policy regarding used games.
I will thank forlong for the source in another thread before posting this.

Giving us the option of deleting the game would make sense. I wouldn't want Aliens: Colonial marines to hang around on my HDD
If they automatically delete the save data then I would be pissed.
That's not the problem though. From what I read, let's say you have GTA5, and you lend it to a friend who doesn't have it. He downloads the same game with the same code because he was borrowing your game. Within a period of 24 hours, your game is automatically deleted because it is now on your friends account! And that, is terrible!

Each Blu-Ray disc for an Xbox One game is embedded with an encryption code that?s read by the console. Xbox One installs a game, code-and-console information uploads to a Microsoft database, and the database checks in automatically from time to time to confirm that the game hasn?t exchanged hands.

When it does ? when a disk being installed is ?used? ? the game simply deauthenticates itself on the original owner?s console and conforms it to its new home.
Oh gosh, from what I just read, it sounds like there can be no such thing as a Used Game on the Xbox at all!

It destroys the original game on the original account if the game and it's code are present on a different account entirely! No one's going to destroy their own game, unless they really don't like it. This isn't as bad as charging a person, but this is still pretty bad!
...

What?

When it does ? when a disk being installed is ?used? ? the game simply deauthenticates itself on the original owner?s console and conforms it to its new home.
While this would kill lending games between friends, it in no way changes how used games are handled in retail outlets currently. When you sell a game back to a shop, do you really expect that you'd still be able to play it on your system? Would you even still have it installed on your hardware? Because I'm under the impression that if someone wants to trade in a game, they're probably done with it.

I'm pretty sure the "lending games to friends" market isn't one that the corporations are going to consider, because you know, it's effectively the same as piracy in their eyes; Somebody gets to play a game without spending any money for it.

Ah, what a glorious clusterfuck....

You'd think everyone in Microsoft would try to get on the same page before their reveal. Either that, or this is damage control. Guess we'll have to wait until E3 for the details.

Even without the ridiculous used game policy, Microsoft is gonna need one hell of a pitch to make me even consider buying this thing.

I don't care what they fix on the console I don't want to get involved with any company who has explicit plans to screw me the second my back is turned.

Besides at best this is still a shitty system compared to the ps4 and WiiU it is just slightly less shitty than before and that is assuming this is even true at all.

There may not be a "Fee" but you still can't sell your own games second hand, you have to go to a Microsoft approved retail shop that takes part of their Azure cloud program, and Microsoft gets to set pricing. The system is still fucked up and something I have no interest in.

"used game fee" isn't really a thing but the "fee" that they were talking about hasn't gone away, it's just doesn't effect Used Games - they have a whole bunch of other hoops for you and the retailer to jump through if you want to play used games which are just as aggravating.

the "fee" is still there though - It's the "All I wanted to do was borrow this game from my friend to check it out but I can't play it unless I pay the full retail price for it" fee. It's not used games it's buggering.. Just friends passing games around.
