What a comical story lol. You spend your days making a game that the console you support won't even play in your home country.

"Thanks for making this great game! Shame your family will need to immigrate to play it."

I know its probably going to work itself out, but it just makes me shake my head.

My head hasn't shaken this much since the Bush administration. I think we should create a new web series titled:

"Microsoft does the darndest things!" Because they are proving to be comedy gold mine of late.

Also, that picture posted in this thread of the guy kicking the football...I lmao.

Oh come on, it's only Poland, who gives a toss? Excpet for the whine merchants the poles. They delude themselves into believing they're a nation and people that matter in the world when in fact they're not. I've had enough of their victim mentality for a lifetime thank you very much.
Who invited Neo-Hitler? Reported.

Does anyone know if they're selling in India? Their infrastructure isn't great, but surely they can find a few buyers in 1 billion+ people?
Nope.

Yeah, I don't see them reaching their 1 billion Xbones sold estimate.

There simply isn't enough people in the countries its going to be allowed to work in.

[small]Of course they could hit it if the Xbone redrings harder than the 360[/small]

They're doing it again. X360 was available for years here in Poland before Microsoft benevolently gave us full LIVE support. Before that we had a multiplayer oriented console with no online support, yeah.

PC multiplayer games that relied on Games for Windows LIVE (like Dawn of War II or Gears of War) came out here with detailed instruction in their manuals on how to set up LIVE accounts in supported countries to circumvent LIVE's regional IP blockade.

The funny thing about it? GFWL had a fully working polish GUI, it detected that you were playing from Poland and worked fine (for a given definition of "fine"). You just couldn't create a working polish account on PC.

And now history repeats itself. At least they won't be trying to sell us an incomplete console from the start.

I (a Pole, so I'm "out of luck" as well) play online on both PC and console, and believe me when I say there's a lot of gamers out there, who actually do have money for that stuff.
Absolutely. Back when I played WoW in England, about a quarter of our guild was Polish.
They were usually insane, granted, but they definitely played video games.

Edit: Vaerna, if you're out there, I'm talking about you. You psychopath.

I think Polish gamers will speak out loud. From my perspective, it's a sad situation.
They probably won't care. That's my prediction.
Considering PC is way bigger in europe, you are probably right.
The weird thing about that is most PC gaming rigs use Windows, another Microsoft product. I know that won't sway them in any way, it just gives everything a weird, ironic ring to it when Microsoft wouldn't cater to countries with primarily PC gamers.

Is this the same situation or has the next generation become more restricted?
There won't be any on-line play for you and your countrymen. At all. (But you are still to connect to the Xbox Live, but no multi-player stuff and all that jazz)
Wait... So, the offline content won't check my location, but the online will ?

Damn Microsoft, you are making piracy a little too compelling.
You won't get to play, at all, it seems like. It's not a question of having access to Live so you can play multiplayer, it's a question of your machine having access so it can perform it's daily check-in and reset the timer on disabling the playing games function entirely. The xbone's natural state is to not allow the playing of games, but the daily connection holds this off for 24 hours. If they're saying you won't have Live support, I would prepare for the likelihood that you wouldn't be able to play games at all, online or offline.

I would say that CD Projekt should pull Witcher from Xbone just because of this, but I'm sure that they and Microsoft have some legally binding contract bullshit that would prevent them from screwing over Microsoft just because Microsoft screwed over their home country.

Still, this is pretty depressing. I can't imagine CD Projekt cooperating further with Microsoft unless Microsoft practically gives them a tanker full of money.

....Really?

This is a serious question. How do you know this?
PC gaming and PlayStation are pretty big on the European mainland compared to Xbox. Couldn't tell you why, they just kind of are. I'll drag up some figures later on when I can be bothered to find them.

OT: I imagine polish gamers will be buying PS4's or using their PC then. In fact every polish person I know has gamed on PC...

Yeah, it's too late to do anything with the Witcher 3, but Cyberpunk 2077 being a 2015 title, CDProjekt could (not "will", but "could") be less inclined to make an Xbone version of it because from the looks of things, the market for that console won't be super big even in the US.

CDProjekt's initial decision to make a 360 version of TW2 might have been influenced by their desire to really reach the US market, which was largely 360 territory this gen, plus the ease of development compared to PS3, of course

My prediction is that 99% of the Witcher community will be playing The Witcher 3 on a PC, just like the others.

Poland cannot into X Bone? D:

Well. I somehow see the year 2012 - 2013 becoming the dark ages of M$.

Have fun pissing of 2/3 of your userbase worldwide, and now excluding regions within Europe, that might have a better infrastructure then some US Countys (in case of Telecommunications it probably would work for Poland).

So yeah. I think only the core demographic of Spunkgargleweewee players and such will be heading towards the stores to get their overprized TV extention.

Have fun sinking M$!^^

Maybe Balmer gets a hearth attack by the end of the year, because of all the fail. :p

Well, that´s not very nice at all. A heads-up would have been lovely for the devs, indeed.
Also, I´m really looking forward to the Witcher 3. On the PC. Since, well, I´m more of a PC gamer. And even if I´d be more of a console guy, I´m guessing my country would be pretty back on the list of countries that should have Xbox Live.

To quote Team Four Star,
"Microsoft, are you good at digging holes....? I mean aside from the one you just dug yourself into?
