Ive seen many of these around for sale, but each one has atleast one review that says they are "Unresponsive" which considering im planning to play mostly fps's with one is a huge no-no, so i ask you, escpistians, If you have any past experience with these controllers, and if so do you have any advice? which ones work? which ones dont?

TL;DR Whats the best xbox style controller for the ps3?

Normally when people say unresponsive they generally mean that they nerd raged at their game a lot while playing it because somebody was better then them. I have yet to see a single third party controller that was actually unresponsive unless somebody had been bashing it against the wall/floor/table.
Thanks, this is really helpfull.

Any brands or makes you recommend i should keep my eyes out for?

My brother has an Afterglow controller on his PS3 which I've used on a good number of occasions and nothing seems wrong with it at all. It feels kind of cheap, though, and I have a sneaking suspicion that the R1 button is closer to breaking than I'd like it to be, but the controller itself controls pretty well.

In the meantime, I have to ask why you got a PS3 if you liked the Xbox's controller better and are planning on playing mostly shooters?
Simple, all my mates play on ps3 and i can't really afford the monthly payment for live anymore :)

Really? This is the first time I am hearing of this. I love the xbox controllers because they fit in my hands nicely and I find them comfortable. If this is true where can I find these? Target? Wal-Mart? How much do they cost as well?
The one I was looking at was around £30, i really hope they work cos i really prefer the xbox controller too.

I'm thinking about getting a Pro Elite Wireless Controller for PS3. I can not play a shooter on a ps3 controller, it just does not feel right, but this one looks pretty close to an actual xbox controller. Maybe you should check it out, read some reviews on it or something.

Here is a link from amazon if you want to see it

I've got one like this, though mine's wired. The analogs sticks are a bit unresponsive and the right grip is a bit too far from the right analog stick, so you've got to stretch your thumb out a bit. Plus, the little pattern thing on the grips are fairly uncomfortable, and (the wired one, at least) doesn't have any motion sensors, so you can't use motion controls.
