In fact this whole thread seems a bit pointless since no two girls are the same and buying presents for a loved one represents how well you know them!
This. Unless she's new or a robot, in which case generic "for any girl" gifts would work fine.

Jewelry always works, considering its been the popular accessory since like recorded time for women. The only credit card I have is to a jewelry store. Diamond earrings have always been a winner. Just check to see if she is a gold or silver. Also, you should be able to get a feel for her style, ostentatious or more subdued. I know several exes who still wear the jewelry I bought them, behold the power of precious gemstones.

I signed up one gf for xm/sirius and installed the radio for her, that one was a hit. A Netflix subscription was cool too not only for her but me. Just make sure to change the billing info after; if you break up.

I found this old Beauty and the Beast story book from the 1940's. But we're not together anymore. My two cents, it's better to go small and meaningful than large and thoughtless.

Simply could not buy my girlfriend jewellery. It feels like a really impersonal and lazy ass gift no matter how much it costs. I'd rather get her something functional and awesome that she really wanted. Or maybe I'll just put the boot polish on and batter her.

I'm probably going to nab a copy of New Vegas for her PC, but that's sorta up in the air due to finances.

And now she's reading this thread... fuck. :p

Pretzel sticks. Dozens upon dozens of pretzel sticks.
I was about to laugh at how random that was, but then I remembered my girlfriend loves pretzel sticks... then I though "that's not a bad idea."

I'm so cheap.

No but really, it depends on the girl. Everyday jewelry works if you don't know her as well, but a better idea is jewelry specific to her interests. Triforce pendent for the Zelda lover?

Game memorabilia is great for any game lover.

If she's not into games as much as that then she must be passionate about something else. If you theme your gift right it can be something reletivly inexpensive and still make a big impact.

If all else fails. get her something you assign meaning to. Say you find a rock on the side of the road that looks almost sorta like a heart; wash that and write a letter saying "this is my heart. I'm giving it to you."

And done, she'll love it.

aww sweetie, stop posting what your thinking about buying on a thread, you know I'd just have to read. :p

A girl's advice? A lot of boys have already said it, but we like any gift so long as there's some thought behind it. If you show her that you pay attention to what she likes, what she reads, what she wears, or (in some cases) what she plays, you'll get more points.

If you want to get her clothes or jewelry and that kind of thing, Kohl's, Target, and Mervin's are good places to go that have classy, fashionable stuff that's also within acceptable spending limits. ($10-$30 dollar kind of thing) If she's in her teens, then that can be a long lasting present that she might still use when she gets older. Just a suggestion.

Also don't give her a gift that has something to do with what you're interested in but she hasn't shown any preference on the subject. Those are the worst kind of gifts.

Last year I got my lady an antique Typewriter - she loves steampunk stuff and this thing had all kinds of moving gears and jazz. She uses it all the time now.

This year, I am kind of stumped, but I was thinking of a calligraphy set and a nice moleskin journal. But, that's her kind of style.

Girlfriends are easy.
I don't have one, "EASY then!" you might think, but alas.. I have this friend, who is a girl, but we have nothing romantic going on, or, a little perhaps, but nothing in the realm of relationship, even though I am working on that. She is probably the hardest girl I have ever tried to get to.

Anyway, she insists on giving me a Christmas present, and thus I feel compelled to give one in return. So what the hell do you give to a girl you like, but do not want to potentially ruin anything by being too 'aggressive' with the signals you send?

A vibrator. Its the gift the keeps on giving :p
I'm only half joking, but frankly, I think many girls would love that as a gift (and if nothing else, it makes a funny joke gift). hell, I was considering getting one for christmas for my girlfriend, (tho we broke up recently). but then again, this is not a gift you'd want to give a girlfriend who you've not been dating long

Rather than the ask the anonymous mass of the internet what to get your girlfriend, why don't you ask her sister or best friends what she wants...

Mine like to read, thus I'm getting her a kindel, that and shes dropped more than a few hints; like "you know bestbuy has them for only 139 right now"... ya real subtle babe.

I gave this up years ago. If there isn't anything that I see that she wants, then she is getting a gift card from her favorite mall.
