Yes, but I've had years of practice translating his nay-saying into an actual review. As an article writer though, I don't doubt him for a second. He's an incredibly intelligent writer and has been involved in gaming for a very long time. It's good to hear what he has to say. (Also, his writing in fullyramblotic is amazing. You all should be ashamed if you haven't read it yet.)

Truth be told I think Yahtzee's a person you should take seriously, just not too seriously. Hence why it's a good idea to just watch his reviews for the fun of it, and maybe buy the game if you're interested. I've seen a lot of his reviews for games I already have and I have to say that everything he's said about the game is completely true. I even notice a few things I didn't notice and you've got to give points to the guy for, and quote, "Furiously nit picking at a game".

Yahtzee's reviews should be taken more as an opinion. Like your friend asking you to eat a live beaver. Sure it's gonna be extremely painful but, hey, you were gonna eat it anyway.

Not really because he never really talks about the good things in a game. Most games have at least a few redeeming qualities that might make then rentable or worth borrowing. Most of the time he just takes what makes a game annoying and adds some humor to it. Everything he makes fun of and complains about is spot on, it's just that is all he talks about.

I was linked the first vid i had ever seen of him, because my friend said i basically have similar frustrated viewpoints with modern gaming. XD So you figure it out.

A little, but there are games that he is clearly biased against. I'd never take his opinion on a JRPG, for example.

Mostly no, I consider him a comedian but he does make some good points, such as motion controls

i think he's entertaining as a kind of comedian and reviews the game not objectively but from the perspective of an actual person. i wouldn't go on his word alone to make the decision between getting a game or not but then i don't let any review sway me to that extent. i value his opinion but it's never the be all and end all in my decisions
Yes this. No energy to read the next eight pages of answers, alas...a rare moment of TL;DR for me. Slutmonkey's got it right, tho.

Ya I take him seriously because he makes fairly valid points most of the time, but I also keep in mind that I have lower standards for games than him.

Yahtzee is great entertainment. Would I not buy a game because he gave it a bad review? no. will I laugh? Yes!

I found Yahtzee is the best at reviewing. Every game I look forward to I already know the parts which I would like (eg story, gameplay etc) but what the makers don't tell you is what Yahtzee goes into. Like the world is buggy as hell and will likey freeze or whatever. I found rating systems are overrated someone gives a game 8/10 or 4/5 I get it and first thing I think wtf this game isn't that good. Yahtzee doesn't go there because it isn't needed.

I take into account what he says and make my own mind up. He's great entertainment and I watch his videos even if I'm not getting the game.

He's just another gamer with an opinion. But through his wit he's managed to make some people believe the things he says is more than just that, like it's some sort of great insight into gaming that needs to be taken into high consideration.

I will say his insight into some games are spot on, but that's only because those are the rare occasions I actually agree with him.

Rest of the time he's just being an asshole because his audience demands it...-_-

If you really want to see the man behind the flash animated skit, you should check out some of his interviews, he's like a completely different person as his sluggish awkwardness sets in....=P

I take everything everyone says seriously, unless it's obvious they're just fucking around.

Yahtzee, thought, I always took him seriously. People keep telling me he's not a really reviewer and that I shouldn't take him seriously but I do...

Or rather I did. I don't watch his videos anymore.

I do but i've been watching his stuff long enough to know if what he's complaining about applies to my taste in games

This is what I'm talking about when I refer to how Nintendo is necessary.

If he mentions potentially game breaking problems then i most definitely take his reviews into consideration but normally i just take what he says under advisement and see what other reviewers think before i make a final decision.
