The old argument always applies, if I wanted to play football/baseball/basketball/bowling/etc, I would go outside and play it. It seems foolish, in a sense, to play a video game version of a real game.![]()
This argument is really dumb, makes ZERO sense and surprisingly comes from ppl that have no interest in sports . (video games or the real thing)
It's literally apples and oranges, as the saying goes.
I am interested in sports, in real life, so your premise that the argument is coming from someone who isn't interested in sports is off the mark in this case.
I like hockey mainly (sue me I'm Canadian), I get out to play baseball and soccer, and I watch those sports, in addition to American football. on TV.
The issue with the video games is that I was forking over full retail price for the newest game on or near the time of its release, but the games just aren't that different from one year to the next. The $59.99 price tag cannot be justified for a roster update, new online features, and some new animations.
Now to be fair I've been playing the EA NHL games since '93, but around 2005 or 2006 I simply had to stop getting the "latest greatest" game because they are all virtually the same. The difference between the very first 360 version of NHL and the newest NHL '13 are not that great. The animations are maybe more smooth and numerous, but it is an identical game graphically, and the commentators, game music, menus, almost everything stylistically is on par.
The point of this post, which you seemingly missed because you didn't offer me any examples, is that I'm bored with video game sports because I have a few of the older titles, and the newer titles are basically the same thing in a different box.
I'm looking for some whacky, off the wall, new concept sports titles. Megaman Soccer, Mario Tennis, BaseBrawl... there are more alternative sports titles on NES than there seems to be on 360 & PS3 combined, I'm looking for a diamond in the rough.
It is not apples and oranges. It may be grannysmith vs Macintosh, but I'm still talking about apples.
