Yahtzee Leaving the Escapist/Reviewing?

Let me get this straight.

Someone wants to quit a job where they're given new video games every week, told to play them, then make a five minute video of it?

Who would want to do that?

This is all bit weird. First of all, Escapist wasn't exactly a failing site before Yahtsee turned up. Obviously ZP helped introdce a larger fanbase, but as someone already said there is still a large amount of excellent content up here.

Also, what exactly is the point of LazarusRaven's posts? Aside from being creepily aware of Yahtsee's other activities, he just spreads conjecture. From the way I see it, ZP is one of the sweetest gigs EVER. You get paid to play games, then thousands of people tune in every week to hear you rant... then you get paid some more. But if he does leave, the internet will just birth some other way to keep us entertained every wednesday, like cake <3

It is just conjecture, I haven't stated otherwise. It just makes sense to me, and I wanted to share my opinions with the Escapist community. I appreciate the evenhanded retort.

I dunno, conjecture is pretty evil. I've gotten excited about bands touring and games being released, and cancer cures based on what someone somewhere posted on a forum and in the end you just find out it was an oppinion and then comes the bloodthirst.

Just for shits and giggles, let's say he is leaving. That frees up five minutes every Wednsday that you can spend calling your friends and loved ones and letting them know you care or to randomly select a topic in an encyclopedia to read up and learn about.

Ok, those were extremes but you get my point. It's not the end of the world if and when he does decide to leave. Sure it will take a bit of humor out of your week, but it's a big world and I bet you can find something or someone that is even funnier than you find Yahtzee.

That's an incredibly inflammatory thing to say. You really wouldn't stay on these forums because one video series is missing?

Personally if he goes I wouldn't mourn for long; although the Escapist would probably need to poach something with an existing and large fanbase to make up for the loss in traffic, we've still got Unskip, LRR, ETTM, and of course everyone on here. <3

I do think it sounds bad, but it's just mein opinion.

I joined the escapist because of Yahtzee and his videos. My friend showed e his stuff and I watched them for a solid two months before joining the escapist. He kind of is a pillar that has kept me here.

I might still check up on news and stuff, but I doubt I'd watch anything on the site or post in the forums if he left.
